  1. it`s far more likely to have an effect as the result of the massive flood area and water evaporation. it has to go somewhere, so there will be a few percent more cloud mass for a while longer than that caused by the rains alone, I don`t think we`re likely to notice it in the west much though :)

-A potential effect of global warming. Increased evaporation...increase precipitation.

  2. * 3 out of 4 women who wore their bras 24 hours per day developed breast cancer.

    * 1 out of 7 women who wore bras more than 12 hour per day but not to bed developed breast cancer.

    * 1 out of 152 women who wore their bras less than 12 hours per day got breast cancer.

    * 1 out of 168 women who wore bras rarely or never acquired breast cancer.

These test groups are far too small to be of any use. Theres also an unequal amount of people in the groups. This experiment is rubish at best. The only thing funnier then seeing how ridiculous they are, is that people actually take them seriously.

Some people's ignorance almost scares me.

  3. I thought I'd share this cool little experiment with you.

Get some termites. enclose them in an area and draw a line with a ball point pen (blue or black) and the termites follow the pen line.

I think there are pheremones in the pen ink that is a sexual stimulant for the termite. It's pretty cool to see the termites following a pen mark.

  4. Many types antibiotics come in solid disc form. Instead of puting antibiotic on a disc, you can put the antibiotic right on the plate...It's not any more effective. But, experiment wise, it's an easier procedure. There are plenty of antibiotics you can use. Contact a researcher at a local lab (email is fine), and 10 bucks says he could tell the antibiotics which are best to use.

edit: come to think of it...I've done the exact same lab before, if you want I can dig up the protocol for you. Or did you want to design the experiment yourself?

  5. Lonely people (meaning people who wished they were more friend to others/respected/loved/cared for/ etc. by others as opposed to those who wish to be alone) tend to push people away.

I say you would have to look at each case individually...everyone is different and not everyone is lonely for the same reason. But this certainly could be true in many cases.

Coquina - that was a beautiful post (#4). It made me well up.
