What they want is to indoctrinate everyone's children with their particular brand of religion, it's called YEC or simply fundamentalism. They do not want a passing mention they want it presented as "revealed truth" it's dishonest, the entire premise is built on lies and I'm not saying those lies are in the bible. They make the claim that only atheists believe in evolution when this is clearly not true. The leaders of this YEC stuff are nothing but snake oil salesmen fleecing the sheep to make money. The dishonesty of these people knows no bounds... They distort real science by trying to teach creation science which is a lie, creation science exists only as an apologetic arm of fundamentalism, they do not try to investigate reality all they do is lie about what science says to distract people from the truth, if I was religious I would think that creationism is the religion of the anti christ, satan is the author of all lies....

What amazes me is rigney's obsession with the truth when his candidate and his party can be shown to be intentionally lying like a rug about very nearly everything. I don't mean "spin" or being misinformed i mean actively lying about everything. It is disgusting, I have to think it's a classic case of projection. And yet rigney, you do your best to ferret out any possibility of lies from Obama and cling to them like they are the breath of life. The supposed lie you keep dwelling on is nothing compared to your boy Mitt, in fact it can be chalked up to the POTUS being misinformed or even needing the truth to be hidden for reasons only known to the POTUS, i see no way he could make any advantage out of lying about this. But even if he is lying about this case, and it's quite possibly he was lying intentionally, how does that compare to Mitt and crew? The best way to see if they are lying is to see if their lips are moving. So many republican lies have been pointed out i honestly wonder if they can tell the truth but let Obama be mistaken about something that happened and you want to hang him for it? How can you justify such a double standard? Why are Mitt's lies ok but Obama can't even be wrong without republicans screaming liar liar pants on fire, Mitt should be charcoal by now...

So watching rape and murder is ok? I don't see how the one is part of popular culture but the other is an automatic life sentence as a monster? I don't want to defend the sexualization of children but possessing a picture is not the same as doing something. I know people do make money off porn, I don't understand why anyone would pay for porn but I know people do, but the free availability of it doesn't make it more profitable but declaring it illegal begs the question of profits... I have no qualms about the making of child porn being illegal, hang em high, but the possession of a film depicting murder doesn't make a person a murderer... makes them odd if they enjoy it somehow but so many people enjoy the whole murder rape thing in film, horror movies and primetime TV is evidence of this... This has always disgusted me but a very popular show about murders is on TV right now, the movie theater is full of very explicit films depicting horrific acts of violence, blood and gore. Are the people who watch such things culpable? Drug laws and their effects falsify that trivially... Then there is the theory that easy access to porn cuts down on sex crimes. As disgusting as that might seem it is true that total denial of porn to the public is impossible and current laws only make it more important to hide it, they don't stop it. Then there is the idea that even if you had a cp picture and it depicted someone you knew you couldn't report it because it would cause you to prosecuted. If you came across a picture or film of someone you knew being raped or beaten, no matter if it was the kind of thing you loved to look at and collected many pics of you could report it and be a hero, make it cp and you are a monster. To be honest i think, and this is just my opinion, but I think that the laws actually contribute to both cp profits and the actual making of it.

I have to agree that making cp illegal probably just hides it and doesn't really stop it. Such images should be used to prosecute anyone who abuses a child but the negative impact of the reactions of others probably acerbates the situation. Telling a teenager who has taken nude pictures of themselves they will be forever broken because of it only makes things worse. The idea that what they have done is horrific opens the flood gates for bullies and other people to make them even more miserable. Teenagers do silly crap like that, when I was in school polaroids of each other were often passed around but none of those people were forever ruined as a result as far as I know. In fact all of them I do know have become reasonably successful stable adults. I think part of the problem with sexting is that adults often forget or refuse to acknowledge their own teen bout with hormones and forget what completely asinine decisions they made while teens. Persecuting a teen ager for taking nude pics of themselves is insane. I have mixed emotions about the rest, I can't see possession of images as a crime, making them yes, that is a crime. I see images everyday that are obscene to me, horrific violence on prime time television, real and faked death, torture, and rape and it's often quite explicit blood and gore. Fake cp is illegal, even drawings, I can't see a qualitative or quantitative difference... The idea that having images of something illegal is the same as committing the act is a big stretch to me. people collect things for various reasons, collecting porn images or at least images designated as porn by the powers that be is very popular. I've never been able to see the point, unless you think my collection of playboy magazine constitutes porn, of collecting something freely available. making something rare or hard to get always brings out the collectors, while I find it highly distasteful i have to admit i can't see it being illegal much less reason to destroy someones life... On a side note i do remember one girl who was highly embarrassed for a few days when the guess who's pubes game was going around. Some of the popular girls took polaroids of their privates and passed them out to the boys to see if anyone could guess who was who. One red headed girl didn't completely follow through with what she was doing as was very embarrassed for a short while...

They all profess to believe in stuff we know is not true or do not believe in stuff we know is true. On a local level almost across the board republicans go for batshit crazy, I think this is an important point, I do not want someone that is disconnected from reality in government, it's difficult to believe you do... The republicans have been fighting all across the US to have creationism taught in public schools, this is unacceptable, if someone believes this then teach it in church. It's also interesting that they don't want any other religious views taught in school, just theirs... The whole religious agenda they want to force on everyone else is unacceptable but the fact that to actually want what they want to be taught as reality is either a lie or it makes them willfully ignorant, no other choice and they are using this lie/crazy to influence people who don't know any better... As for Biden... compare him to Romney's running mate, a tea party darling, he would be a heart beat away from being president, now that is scary...

This, bold part, pretty much says it all for me, neither party is really independent of the monetary influence of corporations, banks and other groups with the money to buy our legislators. I think the right is in an unholy alliance with religion as well, I think both sides entered into the relationship thinking they were going to control the other but religion has a huge influence from it's fringes that is impossible to deal with rationally. The power block that is formed by religion and money has an influence that is hard to escape. Religion to a great extent is driven by it's fringes, even though the majority of religious people privately disagree with the agenda religious fringes are pushing opposing them gets you a label that is difficult to deal with. Eventually much like the civil rights issues that we were forced to deal with in the 60's, when white people who supported the rights of black people got you labeled as somehow betraying your own race, people are going to have to decide whether or not the religious fringe can continue to dictate to the rest of us by insinuations of betrayal of God. This type of influence is quite powerful, in private most white people would admit that the racism of the time was wrong but defying it took great courage but eventually enough white people stood up to be counted and the result was the repeal of both laws and attitudes that really defiled us all. Now the religious fringes are asserting things that most of us recognize as wrong in a very basic way but standing up to these fringes will be difficult. The assertion of if you are do not believe without question then you cannot be a Christian is very powerful even though you know it's not correct. Only by the intimidation of the rational religious people can people like Allen Quist gain power, only by convincing a large part of the population they have to believe in crazy shit can people like Allen Quist or Michele Bachman gain influence. Fear mongering is their bread and butter, they have to instill unreasonable fear into people, this fear is what fundamentalist religions use to control people in the light of reason their stance falls apart like snowflakes in the summer sun...
