I wanted to share this wonderful resource with you all. If any of you take pictures with your digital camera or scan them in using a scanner then you have to check out http://www.imagestation.com. This site, by Sony, allows you to upload your images free of charge and store them there. You can then share them with your freinds, edit them or have them printed for a very very small fee. In my account I currently have 427Mb (1889 images) worth of images.
  2. Do you live in the United Kingdom? It seems so I don't know unqiue and diffrent. I don't know. I may have to scrape up some money to visit it for a week or something. From what I have seen the UK is a nice place to live. I wish I could see a page or talk to someone who has been to the USA and the UK and could compare the two. Isn't it amazing how I can go and visit the UK for a week and then come back to the USA in a few hours. Just the thought of how far we have advanced. That is another topic...
  3. Science Fourms, I am sixteen years old (as of October 7th) and soon will be eighteen in a few years. I think it's time for me to start planning ahead. In case you didn't know I live in the United States in a state called Kansas. Kansas is located in the middle of the 48 States (not including Alaska and Hawaii). There is nothing to do here. It is more of a farming community. The only things to do in my town are -Visit the county museum. -Visit the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center. -Visit the Underground Salt Museum -Movies and that is about it. I would like to live in a town that has more things to do in your spare time and has a great school in the town or near the town. I want to move out of state. Maybe even out of the United States. Where do you think I should move to and why? Here are the places I was thinking about moving. -New York -Los Vegas -Dallas, Texas -London or Birmingham (UK) -Los Angeles -Hollywood -Chicago I can't decide. I want to move to a bigger city for the experience and to get away from pesky relatives.... Alot of people from America want to move to the UK and alot of people from the UK want to move to America. I don't know about the UK now when I heard they have no Mt. Dew.
  4. It will only yeild a estimate of how much you do weigh. I forgot the exact way to find it but if you give me until Monday when I can check the paper at school I can give you the way they do it. That is how the guys at state fairs and other events who say, "I bet I can figure out your weight for so and so dollars." do it. They estimate how tall you are and go from there. I think that sites like http://www.medindia.net/patients/calculators/ht_wt_mw.asp use the same caculation I am talking about. Give me until Monday and I will post what it says on the worksheet I did a couple of months ago.
  5. Here is my current desktop after a reformat. If you want to take a screenshot in Linux then you can either 1. Open a terminal and type in import screenshotfilename.jpg and it will save a file named "screenshotfilename.jpg" in the current directory with the screenshot of your desktop. You can also use an application like ksnapshot. I use ksnapshot. I like it better.
  6. I am 100% sure this topic would deal with Chemistry. Anyway, 1. Can Caffine kill you if you drink to much. 2. How much would you have to drink. 3. What is it in it that would kill and what does it kill. I tried searching the Internet but couldn't find much on the subject. I will keep trying. Maybe it is just the terms I am using.
  7. Just like there is tons of hardware that is compatiable with both x86 and Mac.
  8. Thank you for the link. I will read it tommorow. It is 3:30 AM here and I better get to bed so I can wake up before 1 PM tommorow. I really don't know a whole lot about Physics. This should be intresting!
  9. The Arctic heats up faster than the rest of the globe because dark ground and water, once exposed, soak up far more heat than snow and ice. Why does darker matter soak up more sun then light matter?
  10. I myself am also a self taught programmer. Three years ago when I was 13 my family got our first computer. It was a HP Pavillion from Walmart that ran at a fast 500MHz and had 256Mb of ram! When we first got it I just wanted to learn how to use the software on it. Later I began to want to create my own applications. The first language I learned was Batch and since then I have taught myself a wide variety of languages including -Visual Basic -Batch -Shell Scripting (Like Batch but for Linux and Bash shell) -Javascript -Java (Most of it not all of it though.) -PHP -Html -MySQL -Pascal (Most of it. Not all of it.) -C/C++ along with some other languages. I have even made my own language before. I am now 16 years old and am still learning. I have moved away from Windows programming and now have gotten more into Web programming and Linux programming. I am also a independent web designer and have started my own company. Some sites I have designed and host are -Jelly-Soft.com (My site. It isn't done yet. I have had so many clients and not much time to finnish my site!) -Gems-4-You.com (I have to have this site done tommorow night. I am working on it now.) and several other sites. I have tons of other misc. clients. I am very intrested in Chemistry and study it in my spare time. I have used all versions of Windows and used the Linux Kernel from 2.2 and up. I have never taken a programming class in my life!
  11. Check out OpenDarwin. I think this is what you are looking for. You can find it at http://www.opendarwin.org -Jordie
  12. Mad at the world? Wow! No most virus writers are between 13 - 25 years old. Most of them get intrested in virus writing because it's just an intresting topic. The only time I myself have seen a worm unleashed on the Internet to attack a company besides Microsoft was the mydoom worm that did a DDoS on SCO because of issues they had with Linux. Some virus writers do it just to prove they can do it. Some of them do it because there hired out by people. You would be suprised how often this happens.
  13. I didn't know where I should ask this so I just did it here. My book that I am reading on Light & Sound Waves states the following. "Consider what happens when waves of sound move through the billions upon billions of particles that make up the air. A disturbance -- the ringing of a bell, a revolver shot, a mewoing of a cat -- causes the particles of the air nearest the disturbance (call them A particles) to bump into there neighbors, which we shall call B particles bump into the adjacent C particles and so on. The series of collisions brings about variations in pressure of the air; the variations are transmitted through the air at the rate of roughly a mile in five seconds and reach the ear drum of the listener." So does this mean if we could remove all the air on Earth there would be no sound?
  14. I am using the kde window manager on Linux. The wallpaper if that is what your talking about I got from Dwp wallpapers (just do google search for it) The skin I used on kde is plastic with the windows as kermick. The other stuff is eye candy. Linux rocks.
  15. I am 16. What ever I am thinking about right before I usually fall asleep is what I usually end up dreaming about or something related somehow. What causes dreams? Is there some kind of article I can read up on them. I did a search on Google a while back but it failed to yeild any content that I though was useful.
  16. The Simpsons, Jimmy Neutron and Spongebob! I like Jimmy Neutron alot.
