  1. I recently moved into a new house. The previous owners had a boat in the backyard. We have a brick patio and a deck, and I noticed the strangest thing. Both the patio and the deck have a very bright green moss in certain spots. There is more on the patio in between the bricks. The moss looks like the same stuff you see on rocks by water. The funny thing is that sometimes I swear I can detect an ocean smell in the air. I remember the owners making a point at settlement of how "green" the grass looks in the spring. I now wonder if it is because the moss is in the grass too. It seems clear to me that this sea moss has started to spread in my backyard. Does this make any sense to any of you? Should I have any concerns?
  2. Delayed? I would think they would postpone the flight until this is investigated further. The small "crack" before led to a catastaphe.
  3. I think this is a very interesting theory. It does not seem possible that every star somehow has a wormhole that connects it to a black hole, does it?
  4. I almost purchased one of these a few days ago, I am glag that I decided against it. Thanks for the info.
  5. Lies and Memory I have heard of cases where a person has lied about something so much that (s)he eventually came to remember it that way. I wonder if when people are given a fake account of history it somehow alters our collective reality.
  6. Can a number in of itself hold certain powers?
  7. Caffeine makes us more alert because of its chemical properties. I once heard that a glass of apple juice first thing in the morning is just as effective. Can this be true? If so, what are the properties in the apple that cause this? I have also heard that the seeds of apples contain cianide. It is said that if you collect enough seeds and pulverize them, the resulting mixture would be deadly. It makes me wonder whether apples contain special properties that don't we know about. An apple tree symbolizes life, and think about Adam and Even and the notion that an apple can keep the doctor away. Any thoughts?
  8. You can do an experiment with batteries, wire and a light bulb.
  9. Is it possible to have a DNA transplant, where DNA is replaced with totally new DNA?
  10. Do any of you believe that time travel is not possible as evidenced by the Grandfather Paradox or do you believe that there is an aspect of releativity in the timeline backwards [or parallel universes] that would permit sucsessful time travel?
  11. Does anyone know whether a human has been secretly cloned in the U.S.?
  12. Ever since I was a young boy, I have wrestled with trying to understand space. In particular, I have never really understood how space is supposed to never end. I really don't see how that's possible. Everything ends somewhere. Where one thing ends the next begins. Can people please provide thoughts on this?
  13. Hey, http://www.TalkTheory.com is kind of a science site for the lay person though. The discussion is not to the caliber of scienceforums.net, for sure, but its a good place for fun talk about all kinds of theories.
  14. Thanks for the info on PlayStation 3. I can only imagine what future versions of PlayStation will be like. Another area of computer development that I find very interesting is computers made of biological material. Once computers are small enough and biologically based, we should be able to use them to interact with our bodies.
  15. Hey, when is playstation 3 going to be released? I heard this coming Spring, but I did not hear the IBM was working on it too.
  16. IBM plans to announce today that it has built the world's fastest supercomputer, the Blue Gene/L. The new system inches by the speed record of 35.86 "teraflops," with a working speed of 36.01 teraflops (or trillions of calculations per second). This is proof the US is not falling behind in the computer industry.
  17. That's great! I can't wait to get a couple of those.
  18. I think our brains are wired that way to protect us from certain situations.
  19. Yeah, what's your condition? Inquiring minds want to know. Who knows, maybe I have the same thing and we could work through it together.
  20. I think they get a sense of empowerment that they have control over others. They do it because they are socially deficient. I don't think you will find very many hackers who have great self esteem and happy lives.
  21. I think living cells collect or expend energy. Is this right?
  22. Yeah, but how do you really know that you can travel in a straight line forever? Kind of reminds me of when early scientists believed the world was flat. They laughed at the theory that it was round. How do we really know this? We have not done it. It seems more plausible that space envelopes or repeats itself; like the loop symbol we use to represent infinity.
