  1. i was at my computer, browsing through the new posts and i opened a bottle of "Henry Weinhard's Root Beer." i took a small drink, then put it back on the coaster with the cap off. i finished reading a post and grabbed for my root beer, but white foam was comming out of the top very slowly. the white foam isn't like normal root beer foam. it was sticky, like a marshmellow (but foamier). it tasted kinda like an acidic marshmellow. and it wasn't pouring over the sides (well, slowly). does anyone have any idea what this could be? just incase it helps: i was eating an orange marmalade jelly and peanut butter sandwich just prior to taking the first drink. i am alone, so it wasn't a prank (and my parents didn't do it). this hasn't happened with any of the 5 root beers, that came in the same package, that a drank this week. and i am now going to throw the drink away because i don't trust it. <edit> now that it's died down a bit, it looks like soap bubbles. i took a sip of the root beer underneath and it tastes normal, kinda flat, but it was only a sip. Now i will throw it away... <edit>... maybe one more sip... yup, definitely flat.
  2. there was another e-mail that went around a while ago about the english language that i never saw. it wasn't like this, it was about replacing the letters c (k s), qu (kw), x (ks z), ph (f), and things like that. and the farther down you read, the more letters are replaced to make a much easier language. can anyone find a link to anything like that?
  3. Science of mind is what brings that which cannot be named, because structure hinders the studier from comprehending the mind in it's true state, as opposed to a bag of satsumas.5 kilos and assorted nuts and bolts which only hinders Anna Kournikova from showing her true fiendish, but perfectly shaped flask containing Ethyl Alcohol. Therefore, the only reason Weetabix lacks a certain resonance is because MUTANT TUNA FISH have taken over

  5. i just wanna point out this one thing... actually, humans are quite capable of understanding infinite in it's entirety, it just that over 80% of the population can't understand it. and about 30-50% of the population can't understand the meaning of 0. and about 50-70% of the population can't understand the meaning of any number above or equal to 2. fake discussion with insurance agency: "Nothing started the fire, the machine just messed up." "So, it's the mechanic's fault?" "No, the machine was wearing out over time, and we didn't compensate." "So, it was your fault?" "No, the person who used the machine also didn't follow all of the rules we had." "Ahh, so it was the worker's fault." "No! there was also a lot of flammable waste from the maching that hadn't been cleaned up." "So it was the janitor's fault?" "NO! it was no one's fault!" "I don't get it, who started the fire?" "NO, NO ONE STARTED THE FIRE!" "Perhaps you don't understand, something HAD to have started the fire, it couldn't just spontaneously combust. Now, who was it?" "GOD @&*# IT!! IT WAS NO ONE'S FAULT! it was a combination of tens of different factors that caused the fire!" "calm down sir, i'm just asking a simple question, who started the fire?" ... it just goes further downhill from there.... this is actually quite similar to the discussion my dad had with my insurer when i broke my arm on school property.
  6. but the thing is, electrons don't orbit the nucleus like any concievable astral bodies. planets and satelites do orbit on a fixed path, be it a circle, oval, or an oval that slowly rotates around the center. unless acted upon by an outside force, satelites do orbit on a fixed path. electrons are constantly being bombarded with waves and particles more than twice their size, so their paths are unpredictabe. also, the static attraction the nucleus has on the electrons is much stronger than gravity in relation to a solar system. since this is the basis of the non-serious science post, it is wrong. P.S. science conveys an idea by analyzing facts, and the non-serious post's facts were wrong. i have absolutely no objection to you painting a picture of an atom with solar system characteristics though. P.P.S. one discovery channel show i watched said that squids can see about 1 trillion points (pixels i guess), while humans can only see something like 1 billion. i am sure i got the numbers wrong, but it's something along those lines

  8. well, if i look for minute hand movement on an analogue watch, i can see it up to about half a foot away, so i'd say fafalone is right, and maybe even less than that.
  9. opinionated, maybe, but i doubt it (well, it's opinionated if i say it because i don't know how they figured it out). unproven, no theory is proven, and we can't actually detect an electron's path, so it's entirely possible that this is wrong. however, we do know, because of heisenberg's uncertainty principle, that electrons do not orbit on a fixed path. and we also know that electrons fill electron levels, sublevels, orbitals, and spins in a certain pattern.
  10. lol, i didn't even realise everything was misspelled until half way through the paragraph. and i got 3 f's the first time too
  11. umm... it's very hard for me to explain (i'm very bad at teaching) but basically, electrons do not orbit in 2d, and they do not orbit in circles. this is more toward reality this is a rotating graph of where two electrons are likely to be in one of the higher energy levels (the center point is the nucleus) and heres another one (lower energy level) this is based on the quantum model of an atom

    Fastest Run Speed

well, he's supposed to be able to run faster than a speeding bullet and in one of the movies he travels faster than light so i suppose the answer would be: infinitely close to the speed of light... even though that also breaks the laws of physics since he would just jump off earth if he ran that fast... heck, it might not even be possible to run faster than a speeding bullet. of course he could always do what the people do in anime shows, jump horizontally (like, completely horizontally, body and everything). in that case, he could go just fast enough to orbit earth and inch above ground level. and if he went a bit slower he could be sort of running.
  13. wow... quite mad except for the fact that atoms look almost nothing like our solar system, i might have a .001% chance of believing that. lol
  14. i just recently heard this from my teacher: sometimes, a sort of tunnel will form between two bacteria, allowing them to trade DNA portions. this is what causes a lot of the bacterial mutations. although, i have no idea if that has anything to do with sexes....
  15. basically a fear is like, "EEK! A SPIDER! eww... get it away!" whereas a phobia is like, "O MY GOD!!!! IT"S A SPIDER!!!! WERE ALL GONNA DIE!!!! RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" think the difference between a startle and utter panick. of course, there's probably some simple dictionary definition on the internet somewhere...
  16. i think i have a better understanding now. but, unfortunatally, we have not studied what happens to the AD/TP before and after the ATP is synthesised. i looked in the index, glossory, and contents of my book for transposition and chemical reactant transportation, but they aren't there, so i don't know what those are. are you saying that, if the cell could still undergo glycolysis, krebs cycle, and oxidative phosphorilation, it would be very inefficient, and very hard, to "feed" ATP, and much easier and more efficient to just feed the chemicals needed to undergo those processes? i don't think i completely understand yet
  17. it's not as much patients that are strongly religious as it is patients that are payed for... i think
  18. i think a prime has to be divisible by only two different numbers (itself and 1). 1 is only divisible by one number... 1.
  19. i still don't understand i understand the processes of cellular respiration (just studied it in AP Bio), but i don't understand what you are saying. i suppose i don't understand between "feed ATP" and "if the cell" i understand that i don't understand. i also understand that if a cell was not able to get oxygen for oxidative phosphorilation, it would still go through glycolysis (creating 2 ATP) and fermantation. i don't understand the whole of what you are saying though.
  20. that could work, but is it willful if it isn't even instinct? is it willful when one cell creates a simple protein? that is actually the movement i am talking about, and i doubt everyone agrees on what will means so....
  21. and if you want specific information, Vivisimo is much better because it has document clustering.
  22. i found this on a quick search ... there ya go. basic descriptions and examples of each so, technically plasma is the fifth state, and the newest one is the first...
  23. DAG NABBIT!!! you made me yawn lol it might be something thaat kind of gets you ready for sleep... somehow.
  24. "Does everyone have any proposals?" i propose we launch all of our nuclear bombs on earth and kill all of the glass before it kills us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ......... lol
  25. i agree that the ability to use energy is an implicit requirement, but the ability to canvert energy into something usable is not hmm... good point although, that is not quite what i was trying to say, but i can't seem to find the right words to say it... ... also a good point THAT'S IT! "ability to make use of resources at hand to move". "move" instead of "benefit itself" because of what muffin said. ATP could be considered a rescource if it was being fed (and, yes, it is possible to feed ATP in at a rate equal to normal cellular respiration). movement doesn't mean just externally. it could all be internal (dividing, protein synthesis, ATP synthesis, and so on). now, Life = "a structure with the ability to use rescources to move" P.S. "a structure" means basically anything... P.P.S. but wait, now that includes simple electric motors... i suppose it has to contain some form of RNA, like i said first.... That works.
