  1. Thanks again vlamir for the great study and descriptions. I see that gamma-quanta which travel at the speed of light would have to pass through the polytron at some undetermined trajectory to actually distort or damage the structure where the one you show for diagram purpose might be a stable pass through. The diagrams help very much. The idea that gamma-quanta only need to pass through an area that is not symetricle to the path and the distortion can be calculated makes sense and collisions are not necessary for damage. The damage sounds permanent though. Good luck with your ideas. Just aman
  2. Maybe if you tried electrolysis through a solution of water and chlorine. The O2 should be removed and the solution should become acidic. You would probably need gold electrodes. Just aman
  3. Since we first evolved the ability to predict next week, design tools, and also understand that in the world there are things greater than us, we have had the potential to expect the same in others around us. As soon as we had this understanding we had the ability to anthropomorphize. Anything we have seen in existance that is more usefull assembled than its parts alone shows intelligent design. It's no great leap to see the correlation between the thinking usefull human and a bag of blood and bones. The human had to be built by design and for more than just locomotion and survival but to actually function beyond its parts. Its a good argument for intelligent design. Just aman
  4. The Schwarzschild radius is a radius that will form a black hole if mass is compressed smaller than it. "quantum field theory says that associated with any mass m there is a length called its Compton wavelength, Ic such that determining the position of a particle of mass m to withing one Compton wavelength requires enough energy to create another particle of that mass." (see link) Particles in our existance follow Plancks observations that on the sub-atomic level energy can only be transfered in in small units called quanta. These all seem to describe the smallest unit of existance. Maybe since a black hole does exist in our universe and does have dimensions it still obeys laws of our observation and is just orderly stacking of these units like carbon in diamond. 5. Thanks, that was fun to follow. Wish I coulda jumped in but I was to busy digesting it as it came along. I'm slow but I still can get there. Makes sense it is the total of friction and gravity the motor overcomes. Just aman
  6. Since the limiting factor in brain size has been the size of a womans pelvis, now that we do C-sections there is no limit to the size of a brain in children anymore. There should be an evolutionary pressure towards bigger brains and maybe a large number of kids in 100 generations will have much bigger brains and also more potential and abilities. If we do have ESP then we are just on the edge of actually expressing it. Just aman
  7. Since the Earth spins, the only way to find longitude is by your relative position under the sky. When longitude was standardized on maps it was decided that 0 degrees was at Greenwich, England. Because of this arbitrary placement, you need to know what time it is where you are and what time it is GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) and you will know how many degrees you are from zero (Greenwich). Each 4 minutes of time difference equals 1 degree of longitude. Just aman

    Nuciliar energy

I think what you are asking concerns the energy that comes from atoms as they decay. All atoms have nuclear energy but some release it faster than others. Gold decays slowly and plutonium decays quickly. When plutonium decays quickly it releases many levels of energy, some of which can be contained to raise temperatures but also many more powerful levels of energy which can damage surrounding atoms by colliding. When plutonium decays it changes to a smaller atom or more stable element. It basically gets used up. Hope that helps. Just aman
  9. There's a lot to digest in the explanation and math but intuitivly it seems to make a lot of sense. I'm glad you started with hydrogen to keep it simple. Thanks for the glimpse of some great explanations to come. Just aman
  10. Since water can stop or slow radiation, it might be healthy to have a really fat head. Just aman
  11. Longitude depends on time so you need a good clock and you need to know what time it is at 0 longitude to compare the time to. A sundial will work on land if you use two lenses to get the divisions down to second increments. You also need a compass to set your sundial. When you calculate exact noon where you are and compare it to GMT you will know your longitude difference. On a ship you need a really good timepiece set at GMT and a sextant to measure your local time. Just aman
  12. I've seen it named as Ununquadium and its hypothetical properties are part of the basis for "Star Gates" Naquadria. The fact is we don't know anything yet of its properties other than it should be stable enough to exist for a time comparable to lower elements. It should be the first element past the unstable, short half-life elements and I look forward to enough being produced soon to be experimented on. It's fascinating stuff. Just aman
  13. Out here in Nebraska we get lightning strikes in open cornfields and lots of times even after plowing there will be a crop-free circle about 10ft in diameter for several years. The corn or sorghum that does grow on the edges usually looks mutated. If you could get a hold of some of the mutated plants they might be interesting to study. I wish I'd have done that myself but I was to busy at the time. Good luck and sounds like a fun challenge you have ahead. Just aman
  14. If you do a google search for "Gravity Probe B" you will see a good explanation of the physics of rotating gravity sources and their expected effects on space. It will be launched in Nov. and its data is something to look forward to. Just aman
  15. There have been a lot of psuedoscience theories put forward about the properties of element 114 and it's abilities to create more energy in a device than it uses. If there is perpetual motion, it can only come from some source like this which is unavailable to us at the moment. We can't do perpetual motion with the things we have now. Just aman
  16. For yer birthday Faf, Nebraska will play Miami with our 3rd stringers in all the second half so you guys got a chance of a championship. I bet ya fifty platinum atoms we will see ya there. Congratulations on getting older, I here that's quite an accomplishment in Miami. I'll toast ya a few today. Just aman
  17. A photon may also decay over an amount of time. Since matter has been seen to pop in and out of existance there may be a threshold of energy needed for a photon to retain its form. Entropy over time may require energy to be used just to continue existing. Just my thoughts. Just aman
  18. When I think of real I think of Hellen Keller to find a simple definition. Something that is consistantly and repeatably counted on to exhibit the same effect or experience. That's the reality she would live in. Just aman
  19. When we view the 3 degree background radiation edge of the universe in all directions, is it just out there or has someone calculated a distance for it? Is it uniform? If the universe were a sphere you could judge your nearness to the center by your distance from the edge. Just aman
  20. Some day we will be blessed by the ability to sustain energy fields and contain forces like pieces of neutron stars and maybe black holes. As we miniturize our containment, do you feel this is the direction for explosives to go? If we just release containment, we release energy. Just aman
  21. In these billions of people we got male females and female males and XXY's and all sorts of mutations so somebody will survive. We're almost as bad as cucarachas when it comes to stompin out all of us. Just aman
  22. There isn't much evolutionary pressure anymore so enhanced night vision will probably have to come from the labs. We still might be changed by some rogue virus in the future. If a virus started clotting everybodies blood, it might be only hemopheliac genes that survive. I don't think a virus would get us all and those people that live might be quite different than what we consider normal today. Just aman
  23. Yer a youngster so yer supposed to know a lot of crap. Us oldsters are here to turn it into wisdom. It's crap before you know it and it's crap after unless you got yer head on straight. Just aman
  24. With GPS technology, a good computer, and a lot of positioning sensors, an arial firework could be made with detonations set for set coordinates and you could build a very expensive 3D firework that could be very impressive. Maybe something that could be sold to somebody really rich although I don't know any of those people. I just would love to see my wifes picture in the sky and if I was rich, I'd buy it. Just aman
  25. In part of the single paticle theory it can explain the effect noted and accepted that particles of mass in space appear and disappear out of space. If on average over time something that usually is moving very fast is in a space long enough it will be detectable. Otherwise it is invisible but may have the properties and show the effects of dark matter. It would have been great to ask Feynmann what he thought . Just aman
