  1. If Gravity is smooth then it should have a mathematical effect on the boundries of the universe to infinity. If it is measured in some obscure quanta then it will be finite as it reaches that quanta limit as in a Planks limit. Just aman
  2. There should be a set escape velocity for our solar system independant of the mass escaping. If it is 1kph less then escape velocity it should reach a designated distance from the sun and stay there until its orbit decays. This means it still will maintain the velocity-1kph in a circular trajectory around the Sun and slow as it falls. Shouldn't this allow for a calculation of limit of our solar systems range. Anything out near the limit and large should be the last planet. And like YT says its unstable out there and a collision could add velocity to permit the body to escape or subtract velocity and hurl it into the solar system. Just aman
  3. Bi Z83/i209 isotope is the last stable element I can find. http://ie.lbl.gov/education/isotopes.htm Still on these isotopes there are a dozen or so for each heavy element. By chance one out of the two isotopes so far created of 114 lasted about 30 seconds before decay. That gives me hope one of the other isotopes might be stable. Just aman

  7. I did some more research and talked to a knowledgeable friend, D. Mayer, and he pointed out that the main problem is the signal-to-noise ratio. He said image deconvolution could, in principle, resolve very small images but only with an essentially noise-free signal. The noise in the signal precludes any practical resolution in this case He mentioned in NMR imaging, sub-wavelength resolution is done, but it is only because of the very high signal-to-noise ratio present in the device. Even then, it is not possible to resolve to 1/1000 of a wavelength. With his input and yours above it seems it may be possible someday but we need a lot better equipment. Maybe a single pulse laser at exactly 500nm. Still the shortest pulse I've been able to find sends out a stream of photons 7ft long from beginning to end. Just aman
  8. Since a large asteroid smashed into the Yucatan Peninsula during the time of the dinosaurs, is it possible a good chunk of a dinosaur got tossed up into space and is floating around freeze dried? Maybe a large bone full of marrow could have made it up or some water critters. Just aman

  10. If you were super sensative to EM fields you could sense the life in, and location of things as simple plants or small bugs. You would probably need sensors the size of the IR ones on the ass-blasters of the show Tremors. Also a brain that could filter out the noise. Still I think being able to "see" and identify EM sources would probably be a really positive ability. Just aman
  11. I had another wild hair idea and started researching our best visual microscopes. The charge-coupled devices can see down to .2 micron resolution which means the sample has to be 20 microns for its shape to be discerned. It uses white light with a mid wavelength of 500 nm. Since atoms are around .1 nm dia. a one wave pulse of photons at it would have the atom moving all around between the first and last photons bouncing directly off it. With our computers getting faster all the time do you think we could actually receive the reflection and compensate for the waves length and get better resolution or even a few thousand clear pictures?   12. I just had a wild hair thought about the instability of all the elements above Bismuth. If an external energy was used to certain specs do you think it is feasable that radioactive elements could be stabilized by it so they didn't decay? Just aman

    Immune System

    If you want to boost your immune system spend a week at a daycare in the big city. You'll get exposed to tons of stuff and turn into a major antibody factory. I read in the newspaper that back in the 60's nearly everybody had antibodies to Hepatitis A due to exposure and now it's down to around 30% here in the states. The study theorized that the antibodies are important in preventing asthma and without them kids are more susceptable to asthma. That might explain the increase in this problem in the present. Maybe kids should get a Hepatitis A vacine just to jump start their systems. Just aman

  15. Thanks Blike, I read it in the paper and couldn't find the site myself. I did find a lot of interesting photos when I searched for "ghost photos" on google. Most of the stuff they pass off as ghosts is just the photographer is smoking a cig. and blowing smoke in front of the flash. The Hampton ghost should stop by the kitchen and fatten up a little bit.   16. The Cyclotron at Berkley aims high energy Krypton ions at Lead to make the elements up to 118. Our Milky Way Galaxy has ripped apart a couple smaller galaxies and they pass through our galaxy obliquely so there should be potential for some incredible collisions. If two Neutron stars collided at high speed, wouldn't there be potential for a lot of heavy elements thrown into space? Just aman
  17. I told my wife the hundreds of soldiers who found Saddam should have taken their time. Maybe if they kept searching and making noise but occaisionaly relieved themselves down that hole over there under the carpet it would have made a couple of days before finding him worth it. I'd have even passed out extra MRE Burritos to all the men. Just aman

  19. When we start building the elements 120 and above on the periodic table, do you expect some will be super strong, radiation resistant, maybe super conductive or super insulators? The problems we face now with space travel vulnearablilities may someday be eliminated if we have new materials better than what we have now. Do any of the elements exist naturally in the universe? They have medicaid for assistance here but if you have a tooth thar needs a crown they will mutilate your mouth and pull it because a crown costs to much. I've seen people who could have had healthy mouths with big gaps and crappy partials the rest of their lives. Do they pull teeth as the easy way out in Socialized medicine countries? Just aman
  21. During specific time periods I would imagine a cumulative effect of thoughts during stressful episodes may have been broadcast in bulk into space. The Holocaust, Cambodia Killing Fields. Some nasty stuff was probably sent up that was pretty intense. What I'm getting at is that I saw some experiments on PBS that showed even yeast generate these effects when feeding but what was interesting was totally isolated yeast knew the others were feeding by somehow sensing these EM changes at a distance. Do you think a remote EEG could be developed to look down on houses from above and see if somebody was inside thinking or the house was empty? Just aman
  22. Since we can record brain activity with EEG and some day hope to interpret thoughts by specific patterns then it seems there is an external effect to thought electrically. All EM effects should be eternal since they are broadcast into space at light speed. Shouldn't some kind of encrypted form of every thought then be broadcast into space? Just aman
  23. If the Earth has a darker face in any direction, there should be a difference in absorbtion and reflection and an actual positive push in one direction over another. Just aman
  24. I watched a PBS special that showed a lot of ancient South American pottery with dinosaur depictions and shapes. Then I saw a Science Channel program that showed a Diplodocus had a stomach that could carry 50 30gal wine barrels. The stomach was filled with highly effecient bacteria which could process tons of vegetation per day. That made me wonder if a dinosaur walked into a campsite and burped or God forbid farted near a campfire the results could be catastrophic. The start of a legend? Just aman
  25. Since we have our representatives in Gov't. making decisions on technology I think they should be qualified. If they are as stupid as the general public who in a recent survey a majority didn't know a year was the time it takes the Earth to circle the sun, dinosaurs didn't exist alongside humans, and thought atoms were bigger than electrons, then how can they be on panels about stem cell research? I think our representatives should also have to be able to pass a general intelligence test. I bet Ted Kennedy can quote the drinking/impairment tables but if you pointed up at the Milky Way galaxy in the night sky, he would'nt know we were part of it. Not just picken on Ted but I've heard some stupid arguments all the way up. Just aman
