Curious layman

Three lads are hiding as stowaways on a ship that has suffered apparent terminal damage upon a reef, and after considering their options they decide to jump ship and swim to the nearest island using safety equipment they just happened to stumble upon. The beach that they landed on was beautiful and so was the island which looked just like the picture post-card tropical type. Feeling euphoric, they quickly decided to explore their newly found paradise only to stumble upon a tribe of fierce-looking natives. They quickly succumbed to the overwhelming armed numbers and were led back to the village where they were to be taken before the leader of the tribe. The leader was a harsh fellow, but he was also a fair leader. He shouted to the three guys that his tribe did not allow any sort of incursion, but if they could find 5 nuts each they would be allowed to build their own boat to sail away. They agreed to these terms and ventured into the undergrowth. After a couple of hours, the first one returned to the assembled villagers and chief where he was asked to show the nuts that he had found. The chief congratulated him, but then explained that he would need to insert these nuts into his anus and hold them there for a count of 100. This was the second and final part of the task. If he succeeded he would gain his freedom. It took a while to insert the first nut, he also found it an embarrassing exercise in front of the whole tribe, but gradually he carried on inserting, finding it easier as he went. Upon completion he then stood with his arms raised in triumph and with the count in the high eighties when he suddenly burst into uncontrollable laughter. It was then that he farted and lost the peanuts. Immediately he was carted away, tied to a post and had all sorts of combustibles placed around him. The chief reappeared carrying a burning torch and headed for the pyre. Before ignition and being a curious chief he asked the chap, "Why when he was so close to completion did he burst into laughter and lose his peanuts"? The reply was," The other two went looking for coconuts".

Sorry for the ramble, but a little surprised/shocked by the support for police officers using choke or blood holds or whatever. I'm not sure the image of police officers holding suspects in what appears to be a headlock is going to do their image much good. It's very easy for someone to panic in a situation like that and for the situation to get out of hand. my personal opinion is that the police should use the example of care homes and psychiatric hospitals. These people face situations like the police all the time. Ok, not with guns, but still high pressure situations with very unpredictable people. I used to work in care, some of the clients we looked after were prone to attacking you, so staff would receive special training. Some of these clients were huge, and I mean huge, due to side effects of their medication and whatever. Under no circumstances were we aloud to use chokes, arm twisting, pressure points etc.. instant dismissal. Yet the training was quick, effective and worked. It was all about movement, balance and momentum, avoiding sensitive areas. Maybe the police should put a priority in recruiting people from these backgrounds, social workers and maybe more people from older age groups might help too. They would definitely benefit from more training in mental health. Maybe include working at a psychiatric hospital or care home environment in their initial training. Oh, and to the OP, yes of course they need more money. That's the problem, there being expected to do far to many things with the money they have. How about the same money, but less responsibilitys?

You mean like when he's handcuffed on the floor and you know he's unarmed. Or when you have you knee on his neck and he can't breathe, or when you have fellow police officers with you. The police should treat each incident as it is, not how it could be.

I'm not being delusional. The fact of the matter is, George Floyd was unarmed, he wasn't being aggressive nor was he suspected of a violent crime. There were more than enough officers to arrest him without incident. This 'yes, but look at the amount of guns in America' argument doesn't hold up. It's nothing more than a poor excuse for police brutality.

How about like this. Nikolas Cruz, murdered 17 people George Floyd, suspect in a forgery. Notice the difference? The argument about the amount of guns and open carry being a problem is a load of crap.

And those that are threatening the use of deadly force to end it are not helping either.

I'm no expert, but you should be taking this very seriously. Gloves, masks, regular washing of hands, social distancing should all be adhered too. Granted, it's easier to say than it is to do, do you even has access to face masks and gloves? I don't nor can I get any. The moderator Charon Y is a good person to follow on this subject.
