      Koti. I'm English so 'metre' is the form, for me. I'm not bothered really because what's probably happened is that I've seen it spelt your way more often when reading on the internet; I'm brainwashed :) I'm no linguistic Luddite... much.

      Phonetically a "metre" sounds like a "meter" to me in every pronunciation I've heard. I bet the same guy who invented "metre" also invented stones and driving on the wrong side of the road ;)
