I really would like to figure out how to do this, it's the only problem I can't solve so far.. "A rocket is launched straight up with constant acceleration. Four seconds after liftoff, a bolt falls off the side of the rocket. The bolt hits the ground 7.00 later." "What was the rocket's acceleration?" We are focusing on three equations: 1) v = v(initial) + at 2) (delta)x = vt + .5at^2 3) v^2 = v(initial)^2 + 2a(delta)x x = distance v = velocity a = acceleration t = time (delta)x = x(final) - x(initial)

Initially these blocks of each mass m are at rest. The tabletop and pulley does not induce friction. So when the system moves, does it accelerate at g? Do both blocks have an acceleration of g? Does the weight of the top block affect the acceleration or exert a force on the bottom block? My book says 5 ms-2 and i am puzzled.

Hi there, I have been given a project in school which is to research and compare the sugar content of cola, diet coke and coke zero. I'm struggling to come up with tecnique(s) which could be used for this project- a titration perhaps? I'm not sure. I believe this could potentially be an interesting project if the most straight-forward and effective techinique is used. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated

(hi,sorry for any breach of protocol since I'm knew) does anyone know a graphing software (preferrably open source) which allows you to export the 3d graph/meshes. (gnuplot does not allow you to pan your graphs nor does allow export of them.)

1. An Acid , HA has a pKa=4.7. Calculate the ratio [A-]/[HA] for the following values: a) pH=2.7 b)pH=3.7 c)pH=4.7, PH=5.7, pH=6.7 and pH=13.7 2. A buffer at pH 4.5 is made from a weak acid(HA) with pKa of 4.0. What is the ratio of [A]/[HA] in this buffer? The equilibrium equation for this buffer is HA<--> H+ + A-, Show how this buffer would act to mop up an influx H+ ions. 3. The pH increased from 5.8, the normal pH of a cigarette , to pH 6.4 by addition of ammonia. How many moles of ammonia are required to produce this pH change per cigarette (volume approx. 5ml) ? (Assume that no unprotonated ammonia will exist at pH 6.4) 4. Calculate the pH of no…

Tris is a widely used buffer in biochemistry and molecular biology research. Its molecular weight is 121.14g/mol. how many gram of Tris you need to male 1L of 1 M stock solution ? How many mL of water you need to make a 0.1 M Tris solution from 10 mL of 1M stock solution? If the 1 M Tris stock solution is labeled as 1000 X , what is the working concentration ? How many mL of stock solution you need to make 1 L of working solution? Please help me with this!!!!!

in the past they based elements on compounds based off if they observably decomposed after heat being applied to them... how come salt was not classified as a compound and an element instead? is it because no changes that the eye could detect occurred?

A 200.0-g sample of a pure substance was composed of 131.9 g of copper and 68.1 g of sulfur. Another sample of the same substance, this time with a mass of 150.0 g, was brought to Joseph Proust to analyze. How many grams of copper and sulfur would you expect to find in the sample? What basic law in chemistry are you employing in order to make your determination? a.Law of Multiple Proportions b.Law of Combining Volumes c.Law of Conservation of Mass d.Law of Definite Composition

Given that two int variables, total and amount , have been declared, write a sequence of statements that: initializes total to 0 reads three values into amount , one at a time. After each value is read in to amount , it is added to the value in total (that is, total is incremented by the value in amount ). Instructor's notes: If you use a loop, it must be a for loop. And if you use a loop control variable for counting, you must declare it.

Hey again, Okay, I have a hw problem that asks for a solution to an integral using 2 methods. I've solved them both but got two slightly different answers, and I can't figure out where I went wrong.... help! So here are my solutions, please help me out, it's all VERY new and I had to go through the book about 3 times before I could understand what it is they're doing. I thought I did well, but.. well, apparently I didn't, since the answers don't match. (a) [math]I=\int e^{-ar} \left(\bigtriangledown \cdot \frac{\hat{r}}{r^2} \right)d^3r = \int e^{-ar} 4\pi\delta^3® d^3r [/math] Since we integrate over all space, r is in the domain of the integration, the del…

I have to evaluate a few integrals with the dirac delta in them. So far, I got all of them (hopefully right), but I am stuck at the last one, mixing the two methods of the (kx) and (x-a)... help? here it is: [math] \int_{-\infty}^{\infty} \ln x \delta (1-2x), dx [/math] (couldn't find dirac-delta sign in LaTeX, settling for a simple delta) Anyhoo, I figured that the trick is to mentally switch this 'around' so it resembles the basic formula with a kx instead of x: [math] \int_{-\infty}^{\infty} \ln x \delta (-2x+1), dx [/math] So, if I only had -2, I know that the expression of the Dirac Delta equals [math] \delta (-2x)=\frac{1}{|-2|} \delta …

Ok so I have a lab to do and was wondering if this equation was correct. In the lab, Alka Seltzer was placed into acetic acid. I have to calculate the amount of sodium bicarbonate in the alka seltzer. I know that citric acid and sodium bicarbonate react in the seltzer, and CO2 is produced. Any help here? C2H4O2 + NaHCO3 + C6H8O7 -> NaC2H3O2 + CO2 +H2O I also have to balance it but I can do that on my own. Thanks in advance for any help. Nevermind I know that equation is jacked up now. Time to start over. Nevermind again. I figured it out
