I have learned that the mass of a proton is 1836 or 1837 times greater than an electron. (found this information at numerous locations) I have also read this statement: "If the mass of the proton were to increase, then life wouldn't exist because atoms could not form the molecules we require" I have not been able to find any scientific proof to that statement and would love to be guided to an article or answer. Thanks -Rob

Hey guys, Firstly, there 3 chapter that I'm revised related (I thought) with this thread: Electricity, Electromagnetism, Electronics. This would be a long journey(If I have a lot question to ask) So, I hope anyone can give me some intuition for me to solve my confusion. let's get to the first doubt, it's about voltage in series circuit and the nature of voltage itself. based on Textbook, Voltage = "The potential difference between two points is the work done in moving one coulomb from one point to another." This give me a thought of that "I can put Voltage as a 'potential energy' in a circuit, but I wonder how that happen?(my first question)" …

Ok i have a set of questions which asks: Use De moivres theorem to obtain solutions to z^n=i for n=3,4,5 Use a graphing software to plot these roots on an Argand diagram generalize and prove your results for z^n=a+bi where [tex]|a+bi|=1[/tex] What happens when |a+bi| does not equal 1 So the first 2 bullet points i can do, so i have found the roots and plotted them on the diagram. Now what the heck do they mean when they sa generalize and prove your results for a+bi=z^n????? will appreciate any help thank you

Hello Guys thanks for opening up this topic so here it is: 1) An ultrasound scanner is being used as a sonar device to locate a metal fragment embedded in patient. The method is to produce a sound pulse and time the echo from the fragment (pulse-echo technique) if the sound speed in tissue is 1500m/s and the time from the pulse to echo is 4 microsecond , what is the depth of the fragment? When i analyzed this problem, i first thought about the Sy , as the one that is looking for, but im not really sure please help me guys thank you

    Here's the question I was given: Differentiate: f(x) = 3x +x3 my answer: f'(x)= (ln(3))(1)(3x) + 3x2 = (ln(3))(3x) + 3x2 However, wolfram gives me a slightly different answer: f'(x) = 3x2 + 3x(log(3)) Confirmed with two different widgets: http://www.wolframal...7197a484f4257c0 http://www.wolframal...a4fac87af8b07b2 _________________ This goes against the rule I've been taught for deriving exponential functions: f(x) = a^(g(x)) f'(x) = (ln(a))(a^g(x))(g'x) I don't really have any reference to understand why wolfram threw in the base10 log instead of the natural (base(e)) logarithm. …

It took 20 years to construct the great pyramid of Khufu at Gizeh in Egypt. This pyramid is 500 feet high and has a square base with edge length 750 feet. Suppose also that the pyramid is made of rock with density ρ = 120 lb/cubic foot. Finally suppose that each laborer did 160 ft/lb/hour of work in lifting rocks from ground level to their final position in the pyramid and worked 12 hours daily for 330 day/year. How many laborers would have been required to construct the pyramid? I have attached my work here. Thanks for helping.

Bistonbetularia is one species of engish moth found in Manchester,England. In this type of moth, there are 2 colors – light and dark(black). It was found out that prior to 1850, dark moths constituted less than2% of the population of all English moths. Later, the frequency of dark mothsincreased through the years. By 1900, 95% of the moths in Manchester and otherprime cities in England were of the dark type, whereas less dark moth type wasnoted in rural areas. The moth population changed from mostly light colored todark colored moths. The moth’s color was primarily determined by a single gene. When background information was investigated, it was found that in the late1800’…
