How do servers works? and how can I also create a server? I'm just curious about how the Internet works and how people can create servers, my class had a discussion about it and we would like to try and create our own website like Google, Yahoo and Firefox. One of my friends suggested to create one similar to this website: deadfrontier.com how do those sites work? and what do I need to have/do to host a gaming server like deadfrontier?

I'm sorry if this was the wrong category, but I just couldn't find one that fit. Basically, let's say someone hacks your cable line. They can listen to your conversations you're having in your home through wires and however they managed to hacked audio devices. This is connected to cable, Internet. Would there be software, for example, that showed locks of anything or anyone doing so? How can I track this down? For example, I have an app on my Android that displays everything AND EVERYONE connected to my wireless network and whoever tries accessing it. That's my question. How can I monitor this, trace this, find some sort of logs at all? Software? If I encr…

Please!! I need some help with finding C books and what I am searching for, I mean, the depth of the book, makes it not 'that' clear to me..and I'm new to C programming. because, I'm searching for a good book(although ALL books are nice, no comments specifically) which can clear my basic concepts for the 'C language'. and I wanted to clear it, the book or pdf, should have step by step explaination of every little programming tool like '%d' why it is used stepwise as the program is compiled. if possible, more practical explaination, like this c program example- #include<stdio.h> #include<conio.h> main() { int a,c; printf("\nENTER ANY NUMBER\n")…

Hello, I am a beginner programmer with some experience in HTML and PHP and no knowledge of Java or Javascript. I would like to upload a chessboard onto my website: abhishek.mallela.net/webpage.html. I have used the following links to help me: http://chess.geniusprophecy.com/chess-viewer.html http://chesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/11/using-chess-viewer-applet_30.html However, I am getting stuck in placing the code (in steps 2. and 3. of the second link) in my source code. For example, what lines should I change and manipulate in <APPLET archive="Viewer-Deluxe.jar" code="ChessBoard.class" codebase="/bin" width="631" height="560" mayscript="true"> <…

I hope I don't get chased off this forum for asking a personal question, but here goes... I am a rising senior who is about to earn a bachelor of arts in communication. I've never been thoroughly excited about the potential career opportunities that fall under this major. So far this summer, I've really been racking my brain to try to figure out what I would really love to do for the next 40 years of my life. While I was helping (really just staring over his shoulders) a software engineering friend with one of his projects, I realized that this was the most fun I had doing anything that could lead to a career. With that, I decided I'd like to pursue a career in s…

Yes let's indeed revisit this subject. Tron is a classic disney movie series. Both the 1982 version and the 2010 version were good movies. But let's look at 2 very important questions about this. Back in 2010 hundreds of people re-opened the contempkation field for a real TRON system where you enter 'The GRID'. A lot of the conclusions are undoubtedly heartbreaking considering ewe don't have the technology, nor the knowhow to forge a cyberlink between Real world objects, and 3D computer Planes. So the first question is: IF the system was possible, and we transferred a human into the GRID... do you think its the same person? Or just a copy, and the original was kil…
