RomeViharo
Does anyone know about Rupert Sheldrake theory of morphic resonance? I think there is truth behind it, and it challenges aspects of Neo-Darwinanism.
ajb
Morphic resonance is considered pseudo-science. Maybe others here can say more.
Sirona
Test experiment results do not support his theory and if you can't prove it, then the default position is to be skeptical. As fascinating as parapsychology seems, the great majority of scientists see it as pseudoscience. People want there to be truth behind psychic phenomena, but that doesn't mean there is; or more accurately, it hasn't been verified.
John Cuthber
Does anyone know about Rupert Sheldrake theory of morphic resonance? I think there is truth behind it, and it challenges aspects of Neo-Darwinanism. It's not a theory in the scientific sense. On a good day, and with a following wind, it might just count as an hypothesis.

Dinosaur19006
Sheldrake is a wacko. His theory of Morphic Resonance is silly. The concept is that when some threshold number of members of a group learn something new, all other members will have the new knowledge. For example A group of monkeys on an island used to wash sand off of fallen fruit by brushing it with their hands. One monkey gets the idea of using water by swishing the fruit in a creek. A second monkey sees him do that & copies the action. Then other monkeys copy the action. When the 100th (threshold number) monkey copies the action, all the monkeys on the island know the new & better way of washing fruit, without having seen it done. This is supposed to apply to humans as well as monkeys. It seems to be some special case of telepathic communication among creatures who are not telepathic.
