Problem glasses?

Featured Replies

I've heard the term "problem glasses" used to describe a type of glasses typically worn by regressive leftist, radical feminist, SJWy types, but don't know what kind of glasses these are or why they are called problem glasses.

Can someone explain this?

The urban dictionary is usually where you find terms like these. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Problem+Glasses

Basically it is the idea that certain feminist women can find sexism in anything.

With above lady being listed as an example. She basically called every 18+ video game sexist and people on youtube make fun of her. She gives out that mario always saves princess peach but actually princess peach saves mario in Super Princess Peach https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Princess_Peach and yeah I play too many games.

From the Urban Dictionary:

A fashion accessory worn by a social justice warrior and feminists that believes everything is sexist, racist, homophobic and/or problematic if it challenges anything concerning their feelings of self-entitlement and/or politically correct world views. This differs from hipster glasses which are often just a pair of empty frames.
Dude, look at her. She's got problem glasses on. We better not talk to her or she's gonna start bitching about smashing the patriarchy.
It's an expression about a certain mindset. The 'glasses' part pertains to seeing life through a particular kind of mental lens that only sees things in a certain way.

If you look at this picture it appears that the glasses are not, or not entirely, figurative: http://40.media.tumblr.com/e55a277fc2a255102033465b6fc2e9d1/tumblr_nd8nflTS121u0r0dgo1_1280.jpg

I suppose the inspiration for that expression must have come from someone noticing that trend with these types of people and then they got stereotyped with it as a group. So, yes, there will be living examples of this caricuture profile.
