Anyone have any personal knowledge of this statement? If so, is it true?

I've heard it's 1000 Mps fiber optic service, for about the same or less than other providers with less speed. I hope this trend catches on. I'd like to see some of the corporations like Comcast and Time-Warner get challenged by The People.

According to CNN, there are several options from 1GB to 10MB with reasonable pricing. It would be nice to get the opinion of a user who has experienced it and can compare to other Internet service.

I'd like to know how long they've had it, and if it's edging out competition from the big boys. I'm normally free market supportive, but some things have become so basic to city life that it makes sense to fund them publicly.

While it's coming soon to Austin, it's not here yet so I'm unable to offer personal experience, but Google Fiber put out this video recently to market the speed difference:
