iNow Posted December 3, 2007 Share Posted December 3, 2007 If there is life on Mars, it's likely some extremely simple life forms (think bacteria and the like), and probably somewhat burried. It would need to be able to survive on the elements available in Martian soil, so you might start by looking at what composes martian dirt and then determine what types of life could live in that. While the existence of liquid water on Mars is uncertain in this day and epoch, it has been suggested that liquid water may have existed in large quantities a long, long time ago. Indeed, there is clear evidence all over the surface of Mars that liquid water may have existed. Anyone who posts about berries and goats in this thread will be cast out the airlock. But, but.... what about that photo of a goat, the face on mars, and the efforts by the government to coverup such information!!! Mr Skeptic Posted December 3, 2007 Share Posted December 3, 2007 Right then, the possibility of life on mars is tied directly to the possibility of liquid water on mars. It is more or less accepted that no liquid water -> no life. If there were liquid water, there would be quite a possibility of finding life there -- though I have my doubts that they would be found. Regardless, it is fairly certain martian life would have to be microbial. One possibility I particularly like is that a few microbes might have been seeded from earth eg when a big meteor hit hard enough to throw earth dirt into space.
