I`de have to go with Meters, as it`s almost the standard for all other modern measurements (nano METERS etc...)

though on occasion I do use Inches (Imperial system), I guess it all depends on what I`m doing or measuring at the time...

Science = Metric

Household (curtains etc...) = Imperial

even to Miles per hour in the car has more meaning than Kilometers per hour :)

though I must agree SI (System International) is by far the best scale.

oh for the love of Einstein

if this doesn't point out that we should've all been beaten up in high school, nothing will

I like millimeters for measuring distances between cities, but for everything else I use nanometers ;)

although fathom is a cool word, and so is parsec

Cubits are neat too. (roughly 22 inch long) and used as the basis for Pyramid building and there`s several refferences to it in the Bible also.

"Arms Length" was that ever an official unit though?

I know that 1 "foot" was, and did it mean arm as in human or a weapon? spears or something?

From: http://members.aol.com/JackProot/met/antbible.html

the digit (width of the forefinger - in Latin digitus = finger)

the inch (width of the thumb)

the foot

the cubit (theoretically the distance between the elbow and the middle finger)

the pace (or double step)

the fathom (finger-tip to finger-tip with arms outstreched)

a Fathom I took to be about 6 foot, so that sounds about right, inch and foot sure. never heard of a digit or a pace before tho? other than in films and stuff, "walk 20 paces turn and fire" kinda thing :)

there are many measurements for the Cubit tho (I use the British system) of 22 inches.

here`s a little more data: http://www.hooper-home.net/TEMPLE/Intro~08.htm

I still recon Metric or SI is the best (for me anyway) :)
