shouldnt bodybuilders be highly intelligent according to this?

Featured Replies

How many of the above components of the balanced, healthy lifestyle promoted by your inserted document are adhered to in appropriate proportion by committed bodybuilders do you think?

All of those factors may help in slowing decline of cognitive function, but they will not increase any intelligence you start with.
I believe the posted article states that

"mental stimulation, physical exercise, proper nutrition, and lifestyle habits that enhance cognitive function and protect against decline"

You're obviously not a bodybuilder ...

The excerpt does mention aerobic exercise benefits, which body building mostly is not. Hope this isn't about "looksmaxxing," that shallow, narcissistic and often self harming web fad led by "Clavicular." That's a destructive trend which will leave young men anxious and miserable and trapped in their self-obsession and distorted body image.

Well, and bodybuilders often have a high protein diet, which is not precisely super-balanced. But really the text is more of a hodge-podge of general health advice. Also brain power is not a thing and certainly not the same as intelligence, as MigL indicated.

I had to look that up. And now I regret it. Deeply. Maybe it is a good thing if AI ends humanity as clearly, there is not bottom to stupidity.

you obviously dont know how to read. it says, "boosting brain power involves a combination of mental stimulation, physical exercise, proper nutrition and lifestyle habits that enhance cognitive function and protect against decline."

Note the absence of the word "intelligence" there. The import bit to understand for studies that look measure these things is that they use the baseline of the person. So they take for example two groups, give them tests, then have one of them do an exercise regimen whereas the control group does nothing. Those doing exercise may improve their baseline a bit from wherever they are, but they do not necessarily perform absolutely better than the control group.

And intelligence is also a complicated term and it depends again what you measure. Many tests are aimed at finding invariate elements, which is quite a bit controversial as we do not know what is being measured. Another form of intelligence includes actually tests knowledge, where workout won't help you if you don't hit the books afterwards (or before).

Which part of weightlifting includes mental stimulation, or aerobic exercise (mentioned in the main part), or lifestyle habits that enhance cognitive function? What guarantees that weightlifters follow proper nutrition rather than a regimen that lets them bulk up, or that they have proper lifestyle habits?
