I know this is frowned on, but I urge you listen to this.

But if not, the fundamental arguments are as follows:

Will Self, suggested that dog's are better bc dogs and humans have developed a true symbiosis, to an almost telepathic level.

John Gray, suggested that cat's are better bc they aren't symbiotically attached, but choose to be with us, on the condition that we feed and house them, to their satisfaction.

I'll be happy to try and explain the nuances of their relative position's, but they do it more eloquently than I can.

Who is will self ?

Have you ever heard of 'ragdoll cats' ?

These have more the 'doglike' characteristics you mention.

For instance you can take them for a walk.

No, but that rather missed the point of both protagonists.

For instance, dogs are far more intelligent than cats, from an anthropogenic POV.

“Better” is an objective assessment, and is out of place in a subjective discussion.

The one you like is the better one.

Indeed, "superior" was used in the video and was dismissed on similar grounds and it's the reason I toyed with putting this in the 'lounge' bc it's kinda tongue-in-cheek.

But there is philosophical 'meat on the bones' (which is why I urged people to view the video), as in "better" for humans...

My brother in law is allergic to cats so that he won't enter a house with cat(s), but fine with dogs and has two of his own.

His mother was allergic to dogs, but not cats and had one of her own.

So which is better ?

Stupid unanswerable question if you ask me.

What's better for humanity isn't the same as what's better for a human, so where did they meet? All I can think of is the local shop, that bans both, but they aren't keen on people having cosy chats without buying.

Like I said it's kinda tongue in cheek, but stupid on an individual level is no different to better, in this context.

Stupid unanswerable question if you ask me.

Dorian Gray Thought similarly...
