Is it possible to lift...

Is it possible to lift lets say a 100 gram kitten using only a singular balloon of a reasonable size - using any methods possible alternatives to helium etc

(Also for clarification - I am NOT testing on kittens this is purely theoretical haha)

Size of balloon and its general construction matter here, but balloons carry tens of humans at a time all the time, so of course a balloon carrying a kitten is possible.

The lifting ability of a helium balloon is roughly 1 gram per liter, at room temperature and 1 ATM. (Slightly more as the balloon gets bigger, owing to the scaling effects)

There was a thread on this back in 2005:

A helium (or hydrogen) balloon can lift of the order of 1g per litre of balloon volume.
