  1. Or to put it another way, if you are always tired, drink coffee. You don’t treat the reason for the tiredness, just combat the effect. Obviously that affects nothing on the molecular level, but in essence all of us use homeopathic methods for treating health problems. We don’t go for a cat scan if we have a headache, some herbal tea and a soak in a bath is more effective. Homeopathic methods take that principle to the extreme. That's where is starts conflicting with logical approaches to medicine. You wouldn’t believe that soaking in a bath would cure a brain tumour that’s causing a headache, it’s just naïve.
  2. In water, it might be a cunning way to produce a piston. Very inefficent I'm guessing, but with a force to push against it would produce motion. BTW, thanks for not mocking my flying disk theory yet. My physics is, um, shakey. I'm fairly confident Radical Edward will find it funny though.
  3. One of my pal's dad is a member of the Homeopathy Orgainsation, he's also joint head of the Osteopath Accociation (UK, obviously) and holds 2 doctorates. I think he might object to the sentance 'No scientist has ever tested Hahnemannian Homeopathy', seeing as it debases most of his work over the past 16 years http://www.homeopathy-soh.org/ I don't tend to ask him anything about homeopathy, as we don't agree on it's uses (he's an ex-hippy, mother earth and all that jazz). However he is a very good osteopath.
  4. Really? But you have been here so very, very long. :spam:
  5. That's all part of the warm fuzzy lovelyness of the hitchhikers guide, that is.
  6. Unless.........There is a propulsion gained by opposite momentum. If the ship was a spinning disk (lets guess that is it, for this it can be power by rockets) and the propulsion drive was housed in the center of the disk in a gyroscope. The gyroscope would be pivoting on an opposite axis to the disk controlled by servos that continually pivot the axis, that could potentially produce thrust. The servos would have to be controlled using a 3d rosenberg diagram and a insane 3D physics model. It would still be a giant vibrator though, so possibly not efficent enough to move more that a few feet without ripping the giroscope apart.
  7. Doesn't it all produce a large vibrator in space? I'm having trouble determining the propulsive element, I'm guessing it's possible to acheve thrust somehow, but I'm still just getting the giant vibrator.
  8. Yes it did. Then it ate sentence structure.
  9. Or play the game, one that I'm fairly sure that nobody was supposed to finish................. http://www.douglasadams.com/creations/infocomjava.html
  10. Well said. I agree on the whole with your opinion. It's just a shame that the world doesn't work as it should. Bush should be more subjective about the admission of inflamatory viewpoints, and keep personal adjendas out of his role. The man's views should not condem sections of the population, but facilitate the intergration of the groups. Perhaps if someone were to explain that to the guy? I wonder what happened to the idea of America as a melting pot for cultures.
  11. I was aware of the ongoing battle of congress to outlaw the practice of Polygamy, but I was under the impression this could not be enforced on those people within a faith that allows polygamy. For instance the crazy Morman's can still have more than one wife, due to the big loophole that is the Bill of Rights. Effectivley making it legal. Aside from all that, I'm not convinced the Bible speaks out against boy on boy or girl on girl lovin' directly, but does speak out against it in certain situations (like Sodom & Gomorrah) where the lovin' is not vindicated by God by right of marrage. It's all a matter of interpretation, however is was common in medieval time for priests to engage in a bit of gender specific romance. It wasn't frowned upon much at the time. The interpretation of the bible to be against homosexuality only kicked in during the 19th century, so far as I remember. I'll look into it.
  12. .......he's so blatantly homophobic? How can you represent the people if you don't believe in the basic right to formally express love? Same sex marrage is not a premise that's way out there (like polygamy, which is legal in some US states), it's a fact of life in the modern life. Not going into the warmongering, alcoholic stupidity of the man. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3110581.stm
  13. Nope, I studied it a long long time ago. I didn't much like it. I'm not sure I ever finished, I'd have to dig out my notes.
  14. National Kill a Rabbit day? Joy!
  15. Wasn't it the mice who thought 42 up for a chat show? I thought Deep Thought never got an answer, on account of the volgon fleet demolishing it.
  16. The K.I.S.S. principle. Always good to keep it in mind.
  17. Isaac Asimov, 'I, Robot' Ray Bradbury, 'Fahrenheit 451' and 'The Martian Chronicles', but I guess you read those. George Orwell's 1984 (obvious one, that) Philip K Dick 'Selected Storys' I think the 1st set has the Minority report in it. 'Do Androids Drean of Electric Sheep' is a bit of a must read. I'm a bit of a fan of Neil Gaiman at the moment, 'Smoke and Mirrors' has some very good short storys, 'Neverwhere' will make you look at London in a different light for the rest of your life. 'American Gods' is a good tale and 'Stardust' is probably the best fantasy book I've read for a long time. I know most of those you probably read allready, but I'm pathetic at remembering which book's I read. Most of my books are at my Mums house.
  18. Your all wrong. He's a genius . :worship:Genius You'll all be sorry when I get my third ear. Mark my words. Oh yes.
  19. Seriously? Nobody can be arsed to look after the environment. America has done a U turn at Kyoto and basically as the worlds largest polluter there is little point in new measures being drawn up by other countrys. Oil reserves will run out soon anyhow, so either we adapt before then or we are all screwed. Plus, don’t watch the Matrix so much. And go buy a teeshirt.
  20. I'm thinking you may want to double check with Einstien. http://members.tripod.com/~jimmar/index-L5.html It's all a bit much for me on a Monday, but you seem to be talking in comparable terms. Interesting thought process though, I'll read up when I have more time. Probably won't have anything relevent to say then either.
  21. Hey, it will work. It will play RealAudio. There is no finer arm adornment than a RealAudio player. Plus, he probably has plans to artist your arse. A new nose on there that plays a tune when your phone rings.
  22. I think he's saying if the planets ecosystem is destroyed we will need to exist without the facilitys we are currently used to. So stock up on teeshirts now.
