      Tropical storm force winds have arrived and heavy rain. The local beaches are being pounded hard a 9 foot storm surge has come ashore. I'm going to take a nap...

      So far this is the wimpiest hurricane I've gone through, almost no rain and just a light wind, let's hope it stays that way. The eye wall is less than 75 miles off the coast still coming directly at us..

      I live in an area that was swamp or seasonal vernal pools many decades ago, the soil doesn't drain and results in water pooling up. In times gone by the water would have been a few feet deep but they dug huge ditches and drained the land to the nearby swamp. The area is higher than the surrounding areas but held pools due to dunes in the area but they flattened the dunes and drained the subsoil. Now water pools to a few inches before draining off to the swamp. We get flooding but it's not like floods you would  get in the mountains. Instead of rushing away in streams it just pools up and spreads over a wide area until it encounters a ditch. Any closer to the ocean and we would get storm surge much further away and we would get flooded by rushing water. I checked the local flood maps and our risk is less than 1%. I am more worried about wind blown debris and downed trees than water. The last few hurricanes have massively flooded all around us, with luck it will be that way again. 

      I've got around 500 gallons of water in plastic drums, oil lamps and propane for cooking. I am worried about my fish, I have more than I usually keep on hand and a power outage will be a problem. 

      I just saw on the news the storm has been down graded to a cat 2 but it is 500 miles across and very heavy rain is expected inland, 30" or more.

    My cousin Jeff Stewart died this morning. Jeff was more than a cousin, he was my brother in so many ways, the way only a real brother can be. One of the few people I have ever known who was basically a good person no matter what situation he found himself in. It's difficult to wrap my head around the fact a world can exist without Jeff in it.

      He was one of the good guys for sure, hard to imagine I'll never sit on the porch with him again and talk about space or fishing and hunting. He liked being alive and understood wanting to understand the world..

    Big bang and evolution is incompatible with The Word of God. Therefore big bang is fake. When the Torah was Written by Moses under Jesus' instruction, The Creation was very carefully worded so as not to allow 'insertion' of extra time. So being a very 'clever' big bang secular scientist believer is actually proving they are 'fools'. That's why nothing works out for the cosmologists who merely become tangled in Satan's web of lies. Satan wants you DEAD to Jesus, and as Jesus is the Life, you are therefore 'lost'. So are the scientist clever?? No they are simply 'lost fools'. David  70.98047

      The expansion of the universe does change over time, In fact the speed of expansion is speeding up but nonetheless please start a thread if you want to discuss this. Unsolicited discussions are against the rules here. If you are banned you will not be able to talk to anyone here. Why do you target me?     Tonight i was pretty much run out of an "ancient aliens" community on youtube for suggesting that maybe evidence should be pursued instead of assumed. Kicked my ass! The Science forum is a much nicer place to discuss anything...
