  1. A few minutes ago I found a flatworm in my yard. It is easily 18" long!

  2. Taking my wife in for a hip replacement this morning wish her luck!

  3. Does anyone have any knowledge about fluorescent light ballasts? I just got a replacement ballast and it has two wire too many!

I have 750 LEDs of various colors on the aquarium for plant growth but the light makes the fish and plants look funky. The Fluorescent is just to make the light look more natural. Plants require light that is not particularly pleasing to the eye, mostly red and blue, so the LEDs are mostly red and blue. With marine tanks it become even more important to have very blue shifted light, shallow water plants and corals still use red light but below 33 feet there are no red wavelengths. If you cut your self diving lower than 33 or more feel your blood looks fluorescent green.

I trashed it and bought a new fixture for less than the ballast cost me. It's a T12 but it gives off plenty of light..

Emitter? I am not aware a fluorescent fixture has an emitter. All I see is a ballast, two bulbs and the bulb plugs at each end..

The old ballast  was an ACCUPRO Model No. AK-UC-228RP-120-SL it has four wires going to each end of the fixture, one end was 2 blue and 2 red. The other end of the fixture was 2 yellow and 2 brown. It was a T5 2 bulb fixture.

The new ballast lacked the brown wires.  I took it back and bought a T12 fixture, the entire fixture plus bulbs was cheaper than the fried ballast for the old fixture...

The original ballast had 8 wires, 2 brown, 2 blue, 2 red, and 2 yellow. Ignoring the power and ground wires. The new ballast lacks the brown wires. The brown wires connect to the end of the fixture with the two red wires, the blue and yellow wires connect to the other end of the fixture...

  8. I'm looking to build a working "but small" model of my pelagic fish aquarium design. If anyone knows of a source of salvage cast acrylic tubing, I am looking for three pieces 24 or more inches long and at least 24" in diameter. 1/4 inch would be preferred but I can probably use as thin as 1/8. Thicker is not a problem, scratched, foggy, can be polished out with a little elbow grease and power tools both of which i have. Give me a heads up if you know of some, I have been looking locally and I can't find any so far. New the stuff is just astronomical in cost, at least to me.

  11. HOORAY - I AM A GRANDAD! Three years of gloom are pierced by a light in the form of my granddaughter.  I am over the moon with joy!

  12. Superbike TT - yeah. David Johnsons's Norton is beautiful. Watching Highlights so no spoilers please

  13. Just heard Dwayne Johnson wants to run for president in 2020. That would be......hilarious.

  14. Why do I keep getting ads for "local single hotties near you!" It's kinda random between the ads for fedoras and cars.

  15. Instead of giving a hungry geezer a few coins, I bought him a week's shopping - and I feel good!

  16. Going out to do some fish collecting today. Checking on a reported population of invasive shrimp at the stat ports near where i live.

  17. I go to Norman Regional Healthplex at 7 am tomorrow for my hip replacement. Too bad I won't be awake to record the surgery. Wish me luck!!!

  19. Why is it that some people are always like "I wish i lived in the 1800s, where it was so much simpler." So stupid.

Much better, I wouldn't have lived past 8 years old if i had been born back then...

  20. Well, the core decompression surgery did not work. I now have to get a hip replacement. At least I'll be able to sit down at my PC for more than an hour after having the surgery. As it stands now, I'm in constant, excruciating pain. :'(

  21. Received my first shipment of fish today, I am planning on reviving my aquarium business this year. The fish arrived in great shape, spotted bullheads "Ameiurus serracanthus" very pretty fish. http://roughfish.com/sites/default/files/tn_img_2333_1_20090120_1051078695.jpg
