  1. Yeah, I know that, that's why I was talking about the using chems to removed the water. bezen works but only once. Thanks for letting me know what the word ment, yeah its 95% for ethanol/water.
  2. Just done a quick check, garden lime has magnesium oxide as well, this shouldnt hurt should it?
  3. Yeah it does, Thank YT. Even tho I wasnt thinking right, it got me thinking anyway,
  4. aha, I've got some calcium chloride, but that didnt work, Anything else that would work? I'll pop to B&Q soon, just down the road from me,
  5. I know quick lime is the same stuff, just dont know where to get any. does B&Q sell it? Why will sodium hydroxide ruin it? is it because once it reacted with the alu, it then attacks the ethanol to remove the hydrogen?
  6. Hi, I'm wanting to dry ethanol. I've got the normal 95% stuff but I want as much out of the water as poss. So I've been reading around. My options are to use magnesium calcium/barium oxide But I have none of these. I was wondering if making a simple galvanic battery in the ethanol would work. So I was thinking: add some salt (table salt) put some alu foil around some coins or wire and put it in the ethanol. Shouldnt this remove the water? making alu hydroxide and hydrogen? Remove the wire/coins and then distill. But I'm not sure how long this will take, weeks? Or add some sodium hydroixde to the ethano/water mix then add the alu, but I'm not sure what this would do to the ethanol. lol. if it was steam it turn back in to ethene wouldnt it? Cheers for any info,
  7. LMAO Just think about what you are saying, which is better? Going to saturn which takes about 7 years (I think) OR building a system that works here on the earth. Yeah great thinking there.
  8. Its funny, even the moon will run out in time, if only they would learn from the oil etc, it doesnt last for every. And what will be the effects of mining the moon? Get some solar cells on afria and pipe hydrogen, But then that would give them more power (not energy, , no light bulbs anyway, lol.), big no no in the mp's eyes, lol.

    Paper raft

nah doesnt matter on the shap, what matters is how much water you displace. Ps the best thing I made with paper was in my first year of uni and I was helping some friends out. anyway. I got some of that wax coated paper, (normally blue on one side) and taped it in the just the right places as to make a air tight seal which under pressure will not pull apart, eaasy to do just a double seam etc etc. anyway I made it and it was made from about 2 A3 paper size. you could site on it etc. and just to test how strong it was I jumped on it, it was so strong. it was a comp to see who could make the best lightest chair out of paper products, eg card etc. well I made 2 one out of pizza boxes to to show the guy whats what, (as it wasnt my compo) and this on, the way it worls is paper is very strong at being pulled apart, but as you know will fold easy if pushed together. bult it on that system and it is very very strong. give it a try. lol.
  10. Its like most things, there doesnt seem like much of what is know is worth anything.
  11. Its just to work out how much energy is required to do a job. EG lift something 1M off the ground, or push it 1m to the side against friction, I tyhink that what you are wanting to know.,
  12. I talking about the weight of something, you have a centrifugal force at the equator which is spinning out, but not at the poles. As for weather, ever tried to weight air? you need a vacuum to do this,

    Magnesium

this is the same reason burning a log takes a while but paper doesnt,
  14. YT u been in the clink? lol.
  15. I know carbon does nothing to help, but its works better than what i have got, I've got copper plates 4 mm think, this is too heavy. How is this doing my self out of some voltage? the cathode doesnt do anything does it? it, just conducts. Also I've been talking about the anode and cathode the wrong way round, sorry. Not too bad of list, http://www.metal-mart.com/Guides/Galvanic.htm
  16. yeha I know that, its the rate at which the alu is 'burned' up in relation to the current, I know the voltage will remain the same (that fuel type which will change this,) I've now sorted my problem, My plate was big thats what was gettign me mixed up. I'm talking about the anode (none alu plate) just got to get some more carbon rods,
  17. thats because he has taken the pic with a lower exposure time due to how bright it really is, just like the moon landing, lol.
