Hmmm...ic. Thankyou very much ophiolite for explaining why jupiter-sized earth like planets could not exist. But then again: mars is earth sized aproximately, and so is venus. Size means nothing.... I think by earth like.....the author of this thread means planets able to support life.....life could evolve on a planet whose gravity is stronger than earth's. Plus....we have found life forms on the bottom of our oceans that live near volcanoes...and i'm not sure about this: some of them use sulphur like how we use oxygen....i remember a friend of mine telling me that once. I think lots of planets would fit in that sort of description: lots of volcanoes, sulphur etc. Or do you mean that SETI is the search for extra terrestrial intelligence that is human like? And do you also mean by earth like planet: nice small little planet with vegetation and lots of water? Who said life could not exist on a ball of ice? Not enought money is spent on propulsion systems. As for SETI.......what would we do if we did find life? Again: Even if we did find life....no propulsion systems good enough....i mean we cant even reach pluto. Life could be in any form shape or size. It could exist in many places. What little we have seen in one planet out of a google number of planets does not set the rules for biology.

You have to see the vids and screens of BattleFeild2. It's a pretty good looking game. It's also a lot more realistic, especially with that new material penetration fix (only certain certain weapons can destroy metal, most can destroy a thin sheet of rubber, etc.). The new weapons look good too....but the multiplayer is still only 64 player . If you have BattleFeild1942, get the desert combat final mod for it. Encrypted

He's right about magnetically propelled vehicles. Such thing have been tested. But i think at the scale he is talking about building it on earth itself, would cause serious problems. But why not build a really large magnetic accelerator in space itself?(between Mars and Jupiter, we got ton of space out there!) We probably couldnt build it right now, too big of a technological hurdle, but in a hundred years it could be possible. Plus, who said the magnets were on hundred percent of the time. They could be electromagnets..... I dont see why it couldnt be a possible solution to our problems in century or two. Encrypted

What's the problem with having jupiter sized earth like planets? Even if we did find such planets, what would we do with the info, since we dont have means of space travel sufficiently fast enough to take us to those planets. In my opinion: pointless waste of money. Maybe we should focus more on pluto. Or develop better propulsion systems. Encrypted

Hmmm..ok. I am in Canada, not the U.S. By the way this game is free. It was made by Microsoft but it had a lot of bugs, so MS scrapped it. But a bunch of fans kept it going and now have fixed 99.9% of the bugs. You can download it from here: http://www.freeallegiance.org Anyways, about opening up my ports, MS recommends that I should contact my ISP, who is telus, to open up thos ports. I told my dad about that, and he said he would contact them to open them up. Too much of a pain for me to do it, plus if i mess up, i could cause big trouble. So ya, Thanks for all your help though.
