The most important thing is always how willing a person is to learn, not how much they have already learned.

Sharia in the US
You can say similar things about any religious or cultural doctrine. Most people following Sharia don't stone their daughters and most people following Biblical law don't bomb abortion clinics. The problem is not whether one follows a set of religious precepts. The problem is the murderous loon. The question is whether answering in the affirmative to the question of whether one follows "Sharia law" is highly correlated with being a murderous loon. The answer to that question is "no."

Perhaps you only exist in the sparrow's mind.

Aquatic ape hypothesis
I think humans do have some adaptations to living and working in and around water, but I think the AAH overreaches a bit and attempts to explain a lot of traits that are better explained by other selection pressures.

Soft "Science" and Evidence of Your Own Eyes.
Yes, but the word 'ramp' itself didn't exist back then. So there you go.

Soft "Science" and Evidence of Your Own Eyes.
I think he means you stand on top of what has already been built and drag the stones up the side until the reach the current top, then place them, stand on too of those, and repeat. Of course, that's just using the pyramid itself as a ramp, and one with a much steeper incline, so patently more difficult to use than a more graduated incline, which is the entire point of using ramps. I'm going to take a page from Colbert and say that 'visceral knowledge' may more accurately be named knowiness.

I've found that particular thirst to be rather unquenchable personally. The more I feed it, the hotter it burns. That said, and before I mix too many metaphors, this is still a fun place to learn and a useful resource.

Why do men like lesbians so much?
Just a point: The popular conception of testosterone and estrogen as the "male" and "female" hormones responsible for all differences between the sexes is a wild mischaracrerization. They are both present in both sexes and do not do the same thing (or correspondingly opposite thing) for each sex.

Has the Republican party lost its collective mind?
It's quite simple, really. You strip down the governments ability to interfere in your business and then deputize citizens to enforce the laws that prevent other people from doing things that are immoral. Without big government getting in the way of our well regulated militias, everything would sort itself out in short order. Just like how government shackles the invisible hand of the free market, preventing it from making our economy run more efficiently.

Has the Republican party lost its collective mind?
I've given up being surprised when Ann Coulter says anything angry and nuts, but even still, I wasn't expecting that rant. I realize her job is to be a troll that attacks anything new and different, but soccer is really not a "left-wing" thing, and I'm pretty sure I can use this article to some effect on a few "leans Republican" friends who are basically soccer hooligans. The problem with politicizing literally everything is that eventually you put yourself on the wrong side of some otherwise innocuous crap from people who would otherwise support you and wind up alienating them. Especially in the current GOP environment of "If you don't exactly share every one of my positions on every issue, you're against me." They really have become the party of "everyone should share my opinion on everything."

If I can imagine it, it is possible!
0.11111111111111111... goes on to infinity. That doesn't mean that every numeral from 0-9 is found somewhere within it. And it certainly doesn't mean that just because I can imagine one of the numerical places in the sequence being occupied by a miniature drawing of an elephant that there must be an elephant somewhere in that number just because it has infinitely many places.
