  1. Sorry about that, I tend to miss certain things in what I read.
  2. Where is your evidence of this statement? Did you get this from Thorne's book?
  3. So you're saying it would take exactly 1,000 years to develop such a technology to create wormholes for communication across space, or across time?
  4. Well I said Mars in the beginning because it was the closest planet to Earth, besides Venus, that wouldn't be completely hostile to humans when they landed on it. So terraforming Mars might not work now because of financial reasons, but as a century passes future generations will be able to do such a thing.
  5. Yeah, space warps is a better term for taking a shortcut across space as opposed to traveling through time.
  6. And those nut-jobs wonder where AIDS came from. It's like science and religion really can't mix. *facepalm*
  7. Then all else I can say now is spread the awareness of, and encourage people to use, birth control. Our own ecological footprint is threatening such ecosystems as the Australian rainforest and South American Amazon. Having 7 billion humans now is part of the problem. We need to use more condoms and encourage healthier life styles, so that those of us who are alive right now will live much longer, so we won't need to have as many children to carry on our genes.
  8. Well if you had a sample from the book I'd like to see that before looking for the book at my local library.
  9. Well can we still try making domed cities on Mars and the Moon? We're at a population of 7 billion people now, and we're running out of living spaces. Sure, there's underwater cities in our own oceans, but think of the pollution we're already spewing into the sea.
  10. Let me guess, it mocks Einstein's theories and calls him an idiot. The title certainly implies that sort of cynicism.
  11. This just occurred to me, but is there any kind of phenomena that would make Mars' moons move in closer to their planet? Also, what would happen if we tried to terraform our own moon? Would it loose it's beneficial properties that it has now for Earth? For the time being, while a planet is being terraformed, are domed cities on it's surface a valid option? On our moon and Mars it could be possible, obviously not on Venus.
  12. Thanks, but I think it would be better if I used the most up to date theories on wormholes as reference. I don't want people to think I'm a writer who sucks at science.
  13. Why do you keep mentioning this "aether", whatever it is? I only know of the mythological aether, the classical element, and the aether of alchemy, and alchemy from what I've been told is fraudulence.
  14. So if the planet has a wobble would it be not possible to terraform?
  15. What if wormholes are formed from a temporary increase in gravity in a small part of space, similar to how black holes are formed? I've seen some works depict wormholes as being much safer than black holes, but still dangerous for those who cross through them. An idea I've had since recently is that a handful of alien races in my show have mastered technology that creates wormholes, manipulating them so that they open up at desired destinations. However, it took the technology's creators 500 years to develop, and in the show's present timeline they're older than humans by nearly a millennial or more. The average lifespan of said species is almost 1000 years.
  16. I've never seen a worm hole, and I can't think of anyone who has, but there are still a few theories about worm holes. You guys told me that worm holes are more theoretical, but does that make black holes theoretical as well? Maybe worm holes are a type of black hole. Then there's the idea that worm holes are randomly everywhere in the universe. Could they really do that? If so, how could anybody find them before they close? And if worm holes close, how long do they stay open before then? If there are worm holes, maybe they could be utilized as an aid in transportation in space.
  17. I can't believe people who are this amazing are real. I knew about famous people with prosthetic limbs like Terry Fox, but these people are closer to the likes of Robocop and Luke Skywalker: So, if you guys were going to have cybernetics, what type of implants would you rather get?
  18. Well, the first 2 on this list say "by 2100" and "900+ years", my show is set in 2135, so now I'm getting somewhere, thank you.
  19. I don't have either of those books, so I'd have to look for them at my local library.
  20. But Mars has 2 moons, or are you suggesting having a second moon is the problem?
  21. Another idea I was thinking of for my alien character was that she is part of a new species created in a special laboratory, through the splicing of humans and another animal, so that whatever happens to us our genes will be carried on through them. They would need a planet to live on near Earth, so I was thinking Mars, because Mars would be easier to work with than Venus. How would we be able to terraform Mars, and when would we be able to do so? I was thinking that we could use a device to heat up the surface of Mars, melting the CO2 below the surface, freeing it back into the atmosphere, causing a greenhouse effect to get more heat from the sun, melting the Martian ice, thus creating oceans. The only problem I've encountered now is restoring Mars' magnetic field.
  22. Well, the alien race I just mentioned is older than mankind by 10,000 years, maybe even more, so I think it would make the most sense to say that they have figured out the technology and science to travel longer distances in shorter amounts of time than us.
  23. Okay, I'm officially out of ideas. One of the protagonists in my web series is an alien from a far away world, outside the Solar System. It's set in 2135 in case you forgot, so what's the fastest way for her to possibly get to Earth from her planet?
  24. Is there a chance of new planets still forming far away in space, even at this very time?
