  1. Like amboedextrous people exsist, do "ambi-visioned" people exsist too ?
  2. Right handed and right dominant eye
  3. True only for ideal gases (and remember there exsist none) Cylinder with a constant pressure of 1atm maintained using a piston, and a large heat source to maintain temperature at 273K (the heat source merely ensures no temperature change).
  4. Any ideas on what proportion of people in this world are left handed ?
  5. if u use it with your left hand, u'd possibly want to switch your mouse buttons. then when u use ur right hand again, u'd switch mouse buttons again. so every change of hand is a switch...... too much switching involved !!!! aaarrrgh ! bad idea
  6. You must however keep in mind that real gases have much more complex relations than the ideal gas law, so all you would observe that is explained by the ideal gas law is that on increasing temperature, volume increases at constant pressure. The ideal gas law is most valid near about the boyle temperature of the gas.
  7. I have only had the oppurtunity of working with HCl and HBr in the lab. HI is supposed to be the strongest of them all and the most ionised one too (Given that HCl is 98 + % ionised, this'd be quite some acid !!!). Strangely enough despite all of HF's attacking capabilities it is still a weak acid, and for ionic equilibria applications, you have to treat it like one.
  8. These compounds will only have 1 [MATH]pK[/MATH] )
  9. HF is the least ionised of all hydrohalic acids though.
  10. I don't think record companies influence my choice of music, simply because I have NEVER ever paid for any music ! I love alternative rock :Linkin Park, Limp bizkit, lost prophets, incubus, blink182, hoobastank......... I also love classical rock in metallica and maiden, apart from those I am a big time nirvana fan.
  11. Can you incorporate support for real media and mpeg/avi codecs as well ?
  12. Its not exactly a reaction, its more of a dissolution. It can be confusing, because just like a reaction, this too involves an equilibrium as well as an enthalpy, entropy and volume changes.
  13. A more technical explanation for conductance under presence of H+ ions goes by the name of "Grothus mechanism". What ionic salts do is that they get attract water molecules towards themselves. Water is polar, hence negative ions will attract positive hydrogen heads toewards themselves. This leaves negative oxygen centres exposed outside. There is a net negative charge here as well as negative oxygens sitting up, which is why it starts conducting. H+ and OH- get involved if you add weak electrolytes or acids and bases.
  14. You really come to know what maths truly is once you get out of school. You have a long long way to go.
  15. Thats a simple enough aromatic compound. You can easily prepare it in the lab, nitration of aniline should work fine. A dye - most likely to get it from some textile factory or a dyer. It should be fairly easy to procure.
  16. Easier method is to catch hold of someone who already has it on cd. Downloading in GBS is not always possible )
  17. Hydrogen carbonate is nothing but carbon dioxide dissolved in water. Like all gases dissolved in liquids, there is a saturation point. Plus any heating will immediately release the dissolved gas. Hydrogen carbonate can't be isolated as a solid, it mostly occurs when carbon dioxdie is released in a reaction taking place in an aqueous medium.
  18. Yeah of course it can be stored, but it does cause an odd headache or two when trying to store it. All i meant to say was that glass is no good for this purpose
  19. Pure water even under aplpication of high DC voltage will not electrlyse simply because it does not conduct very well. The method used to electrolyse it is to intentionally add a little bit of ionic impurity in form of salt or strong acid. Even a little ionic impurity will increase the conductivity sufficiently for electrolysis.
  20. I am not showing off. What you just posted was comlpete rubbish p orbital accomadating 6 electrons because of its shape !!
  21. Could you please be slightly more precise in your requirement. What exactly do you need ? Just notations or the quantum mechanical analysis of the orbitals ?
  22. Orbitals always have at max 2 electrons There are 3 p orbitals which is why they carry 6 electrons (Atleast read the entire thread carefully)
  23. The make is "maruti", the car is simply called "maruti 800" - till foreign manufacturers poured into India about 10 years ago, it would alone account for around 50% cars in India. Thoug its fully manufactured here now, it was initially developed in a collaboration with Suzuki, so its technically called a "Maruti Suzuki 800". I think people in Europe would have experienced a car by the name of "alto" (its known by aroound 10 different names in Europe - unique for each country) which is also made by the same company and exported to Europe. I live in New Delhi, when it rains like its raining cats and dogs nowadays, most roads suffer.
  24. Has anyone else experienced the frustration of programming in assembly language ? ! I had to make a very simle recursive program in assembly, took me a good 4/5 hours to do and then debugging was nearly impossible !! I suddenly have a lotta respect for compilers !
  25. I have a cheap, rugged car that costs little, is very fuel economical, and is probably one of the few cars that can withstand all sorts of road conditions. (Especially applicable in India when the monsoons come along ) It mite be only 800cc, but its more than good enuf for all city driving needs I have.
