What are you listening to right now?
I remember visiting Italy in 1975, when I was 115 years old, and constantly hearing Domenico Modugno's last big 'hit' Didn't really appreciate it much ... at the time.

War Games: Russia Takes Ukraine, China Takes Taiwan. US Response?
I tend to agree with TheVat. Nobody ever seems to 'call out' Chinese officials, and their comments, for fear of 'offending' them. This guy just warned the US that there will be a military conflict, if, the US gets involved in China's military conflict to retake Taiwan. Well, then don't start one.

Quick, hit the mute button on that video clip. Jimmy Page has loaded a gun, and is putting it to his head. 😄

Why exactly cannot cat be in a superposition state?
Oh, I don't know. Isn't it just like playing the lottery ? The two possible outcomes are , you win, or, you lose. And since there has to be one of the two outcomes, your chances of winning are 1 in two. have I been deluding myself all this time, playing the lottery, when my chaces of winning were much, much, smaller ? 😄 😂

If You Take my Meaning
Like INow and Genady, I suspect the problem is the many levels of 'translation'. The ideas have to be translated to language in one person's brain, according to his/her own personal cipher. This language then has to be translated back into ideas by the listener/reader, according to his/her own, totally different cipher. And that is when only two people are involved in the exchange of ideas. I would imagine an exponential increase in difficulty when more people are involved. When you learned English, Joigus, did you first translate the English language to your native Spanish, before further translation to 'ideas' ? ( both you, and your teacher did a great job, by the way ) I have been speaking English for ovr 50 years, but to this day, when I perform simple math operations ( +,-,/,* ) in my head, I do so in my native Italian. ( always thought that was a little weird )

Should NHS Staff in the UK Face Mandatory Vaccination?
I thought he did. Are you actually reading the replies ? Is your animosity towards people who arrive at differing conclusions after proper analysis, clouding your reaing comprehension ? ( no, I didn't give you a down vote )

Creation and Destruction of Imaginary Particles in A vacuum and Relation to Size of Universe
It is vacuum energy, which drops after the Big Bang event as the universe evolves. It has symmetries which we no longer see, and at some point it reaches a low but unstable energy. Then a symmetry break enables the break up of the Electroweak force via the Higgs mechanism, and its associated field results in mass for its bosons ( and all leptons ) I like to picture a pencil dropped from a height, that lands on its tip; low energy, but symmetric ( rotation ) and unstable. At some point, symmetry is broken and the pencil falls over. No longer symmetric, with a specific direction, but at even lower, or true, minimum energy.

TRIZ
There was a science fiction story I read a long time ago, where the alien overlords of Earth were called the Triz. The human resistance consisted of telekinetics who could open wormholes from the Sun to the Earth, or even stop time. It was written IIRC,by an author of Russian origin, who liked to dabble with early computer projects ( even published in Popular Computing magazine ) but I cannot recall his name. Whenever I attempt a web search for this novel, I keep getting links for this TRIZ researchmethod.

The Novak Djokovic Debacle:
Seems simple enough to me ... It is Australia's house, and they have the right to determine who they let in. And yes, they even have the right to change their minds.

A black hole with a simple soul
No, the 'laws of nature' are perfectly fine, even at the center of a BH. What 'breaks down' is our mathematical model, our ability to describe those 'laws of nature'. GR is the model that breaks down, at those scales and mass/energy levels, but keep in mind that we also describe the concept of infinities using a mathematical model, and although much less likely, maybe our mathematical model is not applicable to this type of infinity, and new maths are needed.

Educating a County's Voters
Really ? You think 'comedy news' should teach us about good governance ? I always found it interesting that most voters ( myself included ) know the least about the level of government that affects them most. I know quite a bit about our Canadian Federal Government, and quite a bit about Ontario's Provincial Government, but know almost nothing about Municipal Government.

Two years later, and over 5 Million deaths, and some are still questioning the measures to contain Coronavirus. And I read comic books and science fiction as a youngster; not fantasy.

Creation and Destruction of Imaginary Particles in A vacuum and Relation to Size of Universe
In the case of inflation, it is the 'roll' from the false zero energy of the vacuum to the real ( ? ) zero level due to a symmetry break, where vacuum energy is traded for exponential inflation. If that is also the case for expansion, then vacuum energy would be similarly decreasing. And if we consider the Mexican hat potential, then even periods of accelerated expansion could be exlained in terms of oscillations about the real zero level.

War Games: Russia Takes Ukraine, China Takes Taiwan. US Response?
And the UK has supplied anti-tank weapons and advisors ( trainers ) to Ukraine. Russia has always claimed to be the protector of the Slavic peoples. And V Putin has said' Our Russian brothers in the Crimea and Ukraine are being oppressed, we have to save them." Reminds me of a German leader, 83-4 years ago, who said "Our Germanic speaking brothers in the Sudetenland, the Danzig strip, and Poland, are being oppressed;we must save them." At least D Trump offered to buy Greenland, not invade.

Under-Water Volcano seen from Space:
Apparently the 'middle' of the old island has collapsed into the caldera, and it is that collapse that caused the tsunamis. I wonder if the island is on any ailiner flight paths ( Iceland 1991 ), if the abrasive dust will pose dangers to aviation, or if the majority of vulcanic ash was filtered by the water. Kind of humbling, when you realize the power of nature.

Was there a real Jesus of Nazareth ?
the word 'truth', and its many subjective meanings,is a touchy subject around here.

The Novak Djokovic Debacle:
I have always maintained that 'freedoms' and 'rights' are granted by the society you live with; no one is born with them. If society deems it necessary that everyone be vaccinated against public health threats, then make it mandatory. Don't waffle and include conditions which can be circumvented.

Was there a real Jesus of Nazareth ?
For one thing, the thread title concerns the existence of Jesus of Nazareth. But the last few pages seem concerned with the existence of a historical Saul of Tarsus, and whether his writings as St. Paul were 'truthful' or not.

Cosmological redshift, thought experiment
An understandable ( I hope ) explanation of gravitational binding vs. expansion ... If we consider gravitational potential as a negative potential, the Cosmological Constant/vacuum energy is then a positive scalar constant throughout the universe. ( the CC was used by A Einstein to balance the global gravitational potential ) The gravitational potential can be imagined as potential wells, or pits, and the CC/vacuum energy is, then, like a small step-ladder. If the well/pit is more than 1 m deep ( 2 m, 10 m, or even 1000 m ), but your step-ladder is 1 m, you can't get out, and are gravitationally bound. If the gravitational potential is much less, as it is in the vast expanses between galaxies and galaxy clusters, such that the well/pit is only 1/2 m, less than 1 m or none at all, then the step-ladder would get you to a height where you can 'fall away' from the pit, and you are not gravitationally bound. IOW, there is a 'threshold' that the CC/vacuum energy has to exceed before expansion can take effect.
