  1. Capitalism will never foster research into truly efficient solar until they can find a way to charge you for sunlight. I think gas/petrol will get so expensive that we'll be glad to pay for hydrogen cells. After California had its "manufactured" energy scare a few years back, I spoke with a guy in Arkansas whose natural gas bill went up 80% over four months. He sounded resigned instead of furious, and when I asked why, he said, "Well, at least it's not as bad here as California!"
  2. What do you think of the work being done on hydrogen fuel cells?

Some people think they provide an outlet for agression. I think they desensitize people the same way movies glorifying violence do. The only conspiracy theory I subscribe to is that arms cartels, people who sell weapons and munitions, are just as capable of "seeding the market" as any other wholesaler. Things are getting too quiet? Give some cheap weapons to some fanatics, stand back and watch the orders come in. Nintendo sells their game computers cheaply so people can buy tons of games at a higher profit. Xerox sells copiers cheaply so people will buy more toner. And weapons merchants sell guns cheaply so their customers will buy higher profit ammunition.

How do you reverse the mentality of a whole culture that believes the bad guys fire a thousand rounds and hit everybody BUT the hero, and the hero never misses? Has there ever been a movie made where the hero kills someone and then agonizes over snuffing out the life energy of a fellow human being? (btw Sayonara, I like your new custom title, and thanks for protecting us by severing trolls)
  6. Money and control is all the justification some capitalists need.
  7. I once did that driving. And not on a straight stretch of road, either. I was driving home and thinking about a woman I was seeing who really made me feel good. I negotiated turns, stop signs, maybe even a traffic light or two, when suddenly I noticed there was a strange car in my driveway. I had no recollection of the drive home, couldn't remember any of the drive, and only snapped out of it when something odd happened, a strange car in the driveway. I'd like to think if I had needed to be alert I would have snapped out of it sooner, but who knows?
  8. I still prefer the platform-Republican, conservative, anti-Iraq conspiracy theory that WMD in Iraq were enough to go to war for.
  9. A. Manual. My teeth are electric. Q. How many blades in your razor?
  10. Yes, I can. Most are law abiding and peaceful. I point to residential to prison populations ratios to back me up.
  11. A. The donkey must be shared. Your day is Wednesday. Q. Carnegie hall NYC or Carnegie Hall Dunfermline?
  12. Sayonara, you responded in less than sixty seconds. Innate sense of timing, constant monitoring, or Popeil's new pocket Gibber-o-meter?
  13. I nearly set my keyboard on fire typing quickly 'cause I knew you were watching, Cap.
  14. Do you have a brother named TrueLove?
  15. I meant for several months afterward. Woodward's book just came out this year, Tesseract. My point is that a diplomatic president could have used what sympathy there was to form a foreign relations coup that would have gone a long ways to repairing damage done in the past. No president can be perfect. I hated it when Clinton passed legislation allowing media to be owned by mega-corporations. But he probably would have done a better job in the aftermath of 9/11 than Bush has. I think Reagan would have done a better job of foreign relations than Bush has.
  16. Aside from any partisan nit-picking about policies and political strategies, the thing I cannot forgive GW Bush Jr for is the outcome of his foreign policy. The US had the sympathy of almost every person on Earth after 9/11. Not to sound exploitative, but a shrewd leader could have used that sympathy to forge alliances that were never before possible. Less than 3 years after that horrific incident, the US is seen as the villains once again. If we want to wear the white hat, we have to EARN it.
  17. Oh, there are many things I'm trying to forget about this war.
  18. I am SO happy they finally found some WMD!!! 1 shell w/Sarin gas = $87 billion
  19. A. No. Even people with black skin can get a sunburn. Q. Favorite Douglas Adams book?
  20. Neanderthal life must have been pure HELL!! Small frontal lobes means poor problem solving skills, huge occipital lobes means long memories. Imagine the fights between husband and wife. He can't do anything right and she never lets him forget it!
