Alt_f13 yeah, the negative bit is how I see it, I just use "antimatter" as I don`t know what else to call it really. like in my 1`st post (along the lines of antimatter). do you know if this negative stuff has a name at all? I picture an anti hydrogen, atom identical to the ones we have here, but opposite in everyway, but would behave exactly like H does here in it`s OWN universe.

alt_f13 initialy yes it would take time, they`de have to deployed using traditional methods like the helicopter drop, a bit like they do with water, you`de be able to cover more area per load though as the density wouldn`t have to be as great per meter than that of water, and it would have the advantage of leaving a metal oxide layer to stifle further fire atempts and wouldn`t evaporate in the same way water would. a bit like putting sand on fire, except this sand explodes on heating leaving a flame retardant byproduct. thinking about your FAE idea, if they were to be positioned carefuly around an area, with a concrete backing (tamped) something along the lines of claymor effect could be acheived perhaps, creating a form of area denial for oxygen, rather just drop one in the middle and risk it blowing outwards, how about outside blowing inwards? any thoughts? what`s this "Outbreak" thing about? and don`t say a film or acne rellated ) Glider, a Thermobaric device or ANY sort of device that alter the barometric pressure into the nagative would be usefull, however it would have to be for a sustained period of time (cretainly more than a few minutes for hardwood fires) maybe great for grass fires with a ground crew ready to move in to catch the remainders. but even a low yeild nuke wouldn`t shift the volume air neccesary for a large fire, and certainly not for long enough, I still recon something akin to "Dragon eggs" would be the best way for most fires, used in conjunction with traditional methods.

surely if the 1`st term = X and the second = X also then a subtraction of X-X=0 regardless of what X might equal after the 1`st term? (still haven`t grabbed ma calc yet tho )

well I see it like this, when the big bang happened, particles that seperated (matter and anti ) that were IN PHASE with us at this point of the bang would scatter throughout their respective universes at same distances velocities charges etc... and therfore follow identical paths to ours. just one would be OURS (you and me now) and the other would be theirs (still you and me, but diametricly opposed in evreyway, they wouldn`t even know it. WE would be the odd ones ).

Umbabula speaks: When you create a loop in time it inherently become infinate __________________ yes it does, but non interfering and non cumulative either else it would have been that way the 1`st time round it will ALWAYS be out of phase by however long you traveled back by. and even if you TRIED to get get back to intercept your original "landing" you`de still be out of phase by the time taken to make that jump and even if you COULD time it to an INFINATE`th farction of a pico second and BE in phase( you couldn`t) since two objects cannot be in the same plase at the same TIME, you`de be double dense mush! do this an infinate amount of times and you`ll reach critical mass and turn back into energy, and that would bring us right back to the E=MC^2 equasion and so by default the bucket effect is at best an interesting "story" but implausible

FAE`s are ok to snuff peolpe out low OB desensitised primararies would be even better in low wind conditions. Loki, Silver Iodide cloud seeding would also in certain circumstances be a viable idea also. alt_f13 explosives of the CORRECT type would be perfectly viable route to take as well, but each fire and fire type must be also be judged by it`s own "merits" and prevailing conditions... there is no ONE single answer. many times a combination of ideas are needed to secure a possitive result, and maybe the never the same combination twice

absolutely!!! and the updrafts/currents are tremendously powerfull the dragon eggs work as an explosive/fire retardant in the same micro second. (I`ve done it) so thumb nail size should clear an area at least a foot around and spread it`s oxides well over 20 foot per ball! ) picture them 6 inches appart in a blaze! )))))))

yeah, I`de have to go with that too, as blast alone would have be enormous!!!!! the other option is as I mentioned above, something with a low OB, but either case would require a low wind so as not to move the gasses too much before they could work. and from what I can gather, the fire alone creates it`s own winds, and so MAY negate both possibilities

aha! maybe you`r thinking of secondary explosives with a low OB (oxygen ballance) perhaps, as halon in an explosive would reform into it constituany parts and the CH groups are flammable and halides are poisonous. perhaps under low ambient wind conditions explosives such as TCAP, HMTD, TNT, MEKP etc... could be used, because of their low OD and the DV (detonation velocity) is a bonus too for the vacume effect, and the byproducts are mostly CO CO2 and N. only problem is... with exception of TNT , the others are primary explosives and MAY datonate from impact after the fall from a helicopter and are TOO unstable in quantity to carry (vibrations) and TNT is a secondary explosive and will just burn without a det-cap I`ll stick to "dragons eggs" good idea and right thinking though )

3 or 4 minutes!, that`s gotta be a NUKE! infact a nuke blast wave wont do that for more than 2 mins at 10m tons! and that aint even an O2 "blackout" thats pressure differential on intitial and echo shockwaves (implode). IMI. are you sure it`s just a "bomb" and not something a little more sophisticated at all? maybe some sort of explosive dispersal mechanism perhaps?
