  2. There is, and there is going to be more water in the sea... I don't know how that cannot be seen as a physical fact. Saying that we might not be to blame and therefore shouldn't feel obliged to do anything about it is pure asininity.
  3. I don't know. I doubt it's equally proficient at all languages though.
  4. He's said he's using Translate.
  5. I read it in Politico that Trump's lawyers will be playing 3D chess vs each prosecutor who will playing the straight board.
  6. If one reads about something that has a basically nebulous level of evidence too much, one can end up believing it. The brain has a fantastic capacity for filling in the gaps in ways that may appear plausible, but ultimately don't stand up to scrutiny. Imagination is our great strength, but it is also a vulnerability if it's not checked.

  9. Mostly, I agree. There's a judge in Texas that's overly partisan though. Apparently, GOP try to steer cases to him.
  10. English is not your language, is it?
  11. Here's a link from Politico to a letter in pdf from Alvin Bragg to Jim Jordan et al. This is the state of things from the horses mouth. He means business. https://www.politico.com/f/?id=00000187-37d2-dd77-a1cf-7ff7d0920000 A taster:
  12. I was referring to detecting evidence of civilisation on Earth. The medium will be electromagnetic and wireless is the earliest consistently emitted signal I can think of.
  13. That sounds like an enlarging prostate, which is pretty typical in aging men. I use zinc to deal with it.
  14. That's my attitude.
  15. Never realised it was silicon dioxide... yeah, glass doesn't warm up. Found this reddit. Could the reason be this:
  16. I wasn't sure if a domestic microwave could excite silica molecules and carry on heating.
  17. It can't get hotter than 100c, until the water evaporates... can it?
  18. If the sachets are stored in the air they will absorb water. As a suggestion: Put all your stuff together, then microwave your sachet and immediately pack it with your objects in a gas-proof bag (the shiny metallic bags) or container.
  19. Do you understand what NTuft meant with SPONCH CaFe?
  20. Description by Politico on the upcoming case: OJ Simpson on steroids.
  21. No hypothesis or theory can be be conceived in a vacuum without reference to, and agreement with, what we already know. A hypothesis is your idea, and a theory is what you use to test it via principles contained within it.
  22. Cheers. Thanks to this board, I've gradually weaned myself off the commonsense view of fundamental objects as physically material, like in our everday macro view of objects we can see unaided.
  23. We can only make hypotheses based on theories that work for us now. Until we have other reliable theories, we are stuck with GR. We can't say anything meaningful until then. It's great to have imagination, but it has to withstand the rigors of experimental analysis, and agree with prevailing theory and observation.
  24. Regardless of the technology c is c. Anything faster is magic at this point.
