What's a good language for beginners?
Its vitally important to be as specific as possible with these questions. If your area of study aligns with your own personal interests, values and lifestyle you will make progress quickly and easily. If however your area of study does not align, you will hate it and likely make zero progress. No one can give you good advice on this topic, without knowing more about you personally.

Drone Based Tugboats For Airship Takeoff And Landing
Airships are known to have trouble taking off and landing in conditions with high winds. Could it be feasible to use a system of VTOL drones, that are scaled up versions of the RC models. To function as tugboats to guide airships along their approved takeoff and landing routes. Also in this era where transportation by truck and trains are becoming increasingly inefficient due to rising fossil fuel costs. Could it become feasible to deploy a fleet of airships to transport multiple tons of commodities and goods over long distances. Due to them offering better shipping MPG (miles per gallon) numbers in contrast to current day options which require more fuel.

Piping Water From Flooded Areas to Drought Areas?
Luke Skywalker is raised by moisture farmers on a desert planet called tatooine. The bare concept of moisture farming alone provides a viable alternative to transporting water thousands of miles.

Is the earth spinning down theoretically?
I would be curious to know if the earth's magnetic field provides shielding against friction from solar wind and other assorted emissions from the sun. Tidal forces from the moon only exert influence upon the earth's largest oceans. Lakes are too small to be affected by the moon's gravity.

Is it better or worse to dry clothes in sunlight?
Sunlight could affect fabric differently depending on it being organic or synthetic fibers. While UV light could cause fabric dyes to fade and fabric to incrementally weaken. It will also break down and destroy fragments of DNA and RNA providing disinfection.

Any good post-apocalyptic books?
Seven Eves by Neal Stephenson was ok. Although I don't know how people would feel about the scientific aspects of the story.

Battleship revival?
They claim laser based interception systems will be developed in the future to keep the current aircraft carrier based strategy viable. Carriers are screened and flanked by escort craft to protect them. Battleships would be a direct competitor to aircraft carriers. If a battleship could hit a target 100 miles away with relative accuracy. An aircraft carrier could launch bombers that hit the same target 100 miles away, with greater accuracy. They're both competing for the same job. A single battleship or aircraft carrier could be sunk. By a single small nuclear tipped missile or torpedo. Especially new ships like the Gerald Ford carrier which appear to have been poorly designed.

Battleship revival?
Battleships are no longer cost effective. They cost more than $5 billion. And can be sunk by new inventions like hypersonic missiles or super cavitating torpedoes for which there is no known defense which cost far less.

A question about Graphics Processing Units
CPUs are optimized for a blend of integer and floating point operations. This is the best format for generating an end user experience and abstracts like multi tasking through integers. While including added precision for math based ops with floating point. GPUs are optimized exclusively for floating point ops. Which are useful for plotting 2D or 3D generated environments with added mathematical precision. You got it right. CPU and GPU cores are not backwards compatible. The architecture is different enough that 8 GPU cores does not translate to the same meaning as 8 CPU cores.
