Signal waves are generally not periodic and often not even continuous in time.

Continuous signals are called analog.

Discontinuous signals are called digital.

 

The simplest signal wave was the old Morse code, first on the telegraph wires and then by radio.

This was a simple series of on and off pulses.

 

So the first signals were digital.

 

Then came the analog voice signals by telephoen and radio

 

Today we are back to digital signals with mobile phones.

Functional analysis is the mathematical study of mathematical spaces and the maps between spaces.

 

As such Fourier analysis is included. Fourier analysis is the mathematics of periodic (wave ) functions.

 

When the fourier sequence is finite the map is form the space of continuous, continuously differentiable functions to itself.

 

When the fourier sequence is infinite the map is from the space of continuous etc functions to a space including discontinuous functions eg square wave or pulse that I mentioned before.

This is a question that doesn't have a solid question... Now we use math in everything we do... even on my laptop that I am using for this thread uses mathematics to solve and put in every single pixel on screen... We count words and letters in our language books and count the thousand habitable planets in our solar system. We draw graphs and charts for buisness and the economy needs to know how much they have of anything.

 

But first the big picture. To define everything is like to define 'god'. It is impossble, because we all have a different oppinion or definiton of that.

 

Science has something to do with math. We can't count the amount of atoms that exist in and on the earth, without math. W

to not to make theese instructions wider , I am summarising. and another important subject is being important that in which space your sequence is being researched. for example it will be important and also different whether your cauchy sequences belong element of metric space,normic space ,inner product space, integrate space, Lp or Lq space, etc..

If you didn't get a confirmation that they received it, I think you should assume that they did not.

I did not understand what you meant. if you requested me to inform whether I have taken any e-mail from this department (gsas) then ,yes. but this was only automatic replying and it contains this clause ,too.

22 pages for a proposal sounds quite alot to me. You must make sure that this is within their gudelines. (Fellowship applications can be very long with all the different sections and general BS they require)

 

it was rudiment that 22 page is. by the time ,it is contained some other parts ,not only the main body of the project, for example it contained "privacy -policy" before implemention and when it in process is. by the time I thought that they would it to be comprehensive.

 

of course if is accepted , I predict it will be possible to be wider than PhD thesis. because it is also interdisciplinary of mathematics-medicine-physics.

 

about only mathematics part ,it may be over 80 page the main body (I would remind that it was the rudiment that had been sent) , but as I said ,this is assumption in probability of being taken acceptance.Now it is impossible for me to make any interpretation about their ideas..

, my goal was only making this great project had been indexed/implemented. this was trial interdisciplinary research project to have the new form of treatment for mortal disease named CANCER. actually ,I have some questions in physics.and I see Mr ajb is also interested in physics. if he would reply I will ask some questions to him ,because this trial project is more relevant to find out some physical and mathematical theories at real. being relevant for this mortal disease is only , because of technique of treatment. as you know it is being treated by radioactive lightening (waves/undulations) the term which given in bold is mainly the subjects costained in physics , I have no accurate informatin of this..(ajb??)

after this e-mail, I wrote my project and sent to this e-mail given above , but it has not been responded for 2 months.

 

in this case ,I would ask you whether this means rejection or not ? (it has not been taken any replying from this department :gsas)?

here are some useful information/clues to make interpretation

 

1) the written tex included lots of faults by spelling and also grammar faults. because unluckily I have had difficult economic problems and at this time I did not have computer.

2) the project has been assessed in istanbul university by expert of mathematics anf physics and it is said that it was great.

3) I have called on telephone around 2 week ago , and I only remember from this short communication that she asked me whether I had checked the interdisciplinary subjects/fdepartments on the list ,and she asked me whether ,I had read all admissions on website.

4) the project was written in three parts and it was total 22 page..(note: this was the rudiment ,of course the whole project will be very wide if it is accepted)

 

exactly , I am very very curious or fear whether it has been refused?

however, I would remind something.

 

I prefer you to be strong in mind. here is already high probability to have some problems everytime,in spite of the fact that you feel qualified. there is no exact information about this statement I implied. but this probability will be available everytime. (it may depend on :which country you live, the characteristic of you family you live and especially the life conditions)

 

if I understood sirona correctly (that she implied shortly: the more you be older ,the more it will be difficult to learn) I do not join this, I am 26 years old (not like being >45 years old) but again I think the truth should be like ,ajb shared.he is more rightfull his opinion above I have market.but to be objective, of couse it may be more difficult in the future to learn something.(not now ,in the future especially when you higher than 55).

To learn new things it is never too late. If you want a career in science research then thing can get more difficult the older you start, and by start I mean get an undergraduate degree. That said, I do not think the 25 is really a problem if you want to go down that route.

if someone implies that I am the new in science , yes it is true , and I had already expressed this .. ,and of course although i have had no such a great literature published/implemented yet, i clearly know for my project,that it is impossible to speak about it's results before implemention ,because it is interdisciplinary of medicine mathematics and physics.

Unless you have some fantastic work that is of great interest to a wide range of mathematicians, then you should seek a specialised journal. Many journals define there are of interest via their name, or quite often via their editorial board's interests. If you do have something of wide interest and importance, you could aim at a top journal like Duke or Advances in Mathematics etc. I warn you though that the higher ranking the journal the harder it is to get accepted and the longer it takes to get a report back.

 

In order to offer more advice we would need to know more about your work.

but regrettebly (if I did not understand incorrectly) I do not join your ideas. sorry now in here I can not share my studies before being indexed, and as expressed,I would at least some of them be published in popular/intellectual!/qualified journals or (about project) being implemented in qualified univesity.

and it is regular that scientists who are studying in this department take an interest in topology, (and this opinion may be my subjective idea but I think) theese scientist are already expert in base analysis..

hello I am looking for science journals to publish my articles, the required stipulations are above (in title) but there will be no difference which stipulation is admissed for journals between being indexed SCI or SSCI .

 

however because of I would continue my personal studies as interdisciplinary , it will be better if the (list of) journals are intellectual whiches you share.

I do see some PhD funding options that insist that you also work as a teaching assistant. Other positions I sometimes see are teaching fellows, which usually require a PhD.

 

 

 

I do not know, but for sure in general there are few postdoc positions and even fewer permanent positions in universities and research institutes. Teaching at colleges and schools, maybe with some further teaching qualifications seems a less pressured job market.

I am not sure what you are asking. If it is 'can I publish without a PhD?', then the answer is yes. No journals that I know of ask for qualifications or that you be associated with a university or similar. However, as an 'outsider' your work maybe judged stricter than an established researcher. Moreover, you have to make sure you have done the work up to a reasonable standard, and this is what is usually lacking if you do not have a PhD. But still, don't let that put you off if you are sure you have something.

 

 

usually with a PhD project there will be a lot of scope to reshape it early on. A potential supervisor should have some starting ideas for you. All you really have to do is show interested in some area.

I think , to explore something and studying hard ,theese are different. the first one include requirement of being relief ,but you may not be relief in the second statement (I mean for the second statement,there is probability to be indisposed at least for sometime) . but there is no doubt both of two statements are certainly valuable.

This isn't actually correct. The OP refers to teaching assistantships (TA's). I TA'ed throughout both my masters and PhD in Australia. Also, you do not need a PhD to be an adjunct professor or an associate lecturer in Australia. You do generally need a PhD to be a faculty member, but you can teach without being faculty or holding a PhD.

 

blue89 - if you're currently an MSc student, is there a reason you can't TA at your current institution? A TA/RA position is not really a career path - they're more something you do whilst doing your research degree to get cash/experience - you'd generally be a TA at the same time as being a an MSc/PhD student.

 

 

I think this part will iclude my special feature,and I give importance & value to this. I contacted to canberra university ,yes they said there is competitive for academy. but not so stressfull. arete may be more or less right.

 

but already I need theese to study hard and use my creative direction

 

1) silence remaining condition (home/rome(but lonely)/..tolive 2)convenient temperatured remaining to study 3)healthy/good/fresh and enough feed ..

Usually a PhD is required. Though I have seen some teaching assistant positions that do not require a PhD. You might also find some junior pre-doctoral research positions available, but I do not think these are very common.

 

Anyway, even with great qualifications the market for jobs is tough.

I have one interdisciplinary project and some articles. I did not try to publish them. but my friend (have post doctora degree) said to me :

 

 

"you have to show recommend strong recommendation ,to do theese , or you have to have PhD degree ...(he said this is imperious!)"

 

I have been hurt in my heart because of this sentences... I am sad. , I have thought it will be enough to be intelligent and study hard. I also can make my studies by my own ,I don't need someone to tell me ..I love to learn by my own ,and I think I can do it.

 

this friend was almost my penfriend.

nowadays, there is some applications and because of informations given above , I would ask new questions too,

 

1)do you think I should continue in math department ?

 

2)I can choose computer engineering (this option is available)

 

*** what should I do , which of theese logical ? ,as you see my project has not been refused ,but has not been accepted ,too.

 

 

in conclusion I have one more question

 

3) in programme I couldn't see MSc programme for math. but there is available PhD programme.

 

now I am MSc student . will it be possible to choose PhD programme ...?
