    I got this question from my Chem lab: Al(NO3)3 + Na2CO3 -> white precipitates White precipitate + HNO3 -> bubbles & precipitates dissolved Can someone kindly tell me what does the Ionic Equation for the above actions would look like??? Because I'm having difficulties in writing its Ionic Equations >.< Thank you so much!

  2. Hi . Does galvanic protection under seawater by the use of dissimilar potential metals create an electric field and electric current in the water? If yes, to what extent ? A mile apart chunks of zinc and iron, will there be an electric current between them ? Miguel

    this may sound slightly retarded, but i've been wondering, can you technically say that molecules are also evolving? We started with simple molecules like H2O and elements like Carbon, eventually they "evolved" to complex things like carbs and what not?

    We had an experiment about enzym activity and hydrogenperoxid fission to H2O + O2. When we're adding the enzym, we should obersevate and make a note of the foams height. In a question related to this experiment, we're asked "What is the foam made of?" It isn't a hard qeustion, but when I was thinking of it, I can't define what foam is. I'm asking now: what is the defination of foam?

    calculate the precent by mass of water in a sample of hydrated copper (II) sulfate. mass of beaker-165.3g mass of beaker with bluestone-173.9g mass of dehydrated bluestone-170.7g Would this be a ballanced equation for this reaction? CuSO4•5H2O+ heat= CuSO4+5H2O so would you do this %by mass=mass of part/mass of whole =90.1g/249.7g/molx100 = 36% is this correct?

    I was trying to perform electrolysis using a smart charger and a battery eliminator in series (generating about 12V 1A). The EMF setup was connected to two aluminum electrodes which were submersed in brine solution. The intent of the exeriment was to obtain pure hyrdogen gas and a residue of an oxide of aluminum. I got something quite different... I found that the gases weren't flamable and thus couldn't be oxygen or hydrogen. A light-bluish/white precipitate was formed slowly at the surface.     I will be purchasing a house in the not too distant future. I haven't found the right one yet, but it's only a matter of time. My question is what kind of considerations should I give to location of a homemade fume hood within the home? Also should I be aware of any drawbacks to using epoxy based paints or should I use Teflon based paints to coat the inner surface of the hood? I am planning to build this fume hood to be at least 4' across and 3' deep so space won't be a problem inside the hood.     I am having an ongoing argument with my friend at the moment about chlorine in swimming pools. The two arguments are. 1. That chlorine itself causes the smell and irritation to the eyes and that urine does not contribute to/or play a mjor part in the smell and irritation. (his argument) 2.That chlorine is odorless and does not create irritation or 'bleach' smell in itself. It is urine combines with chlorine that creates choloromines and it is these choloromines that causes sore eyes and the odor. We both agree ph balance can also effect peoples eyes and skin. Who is correct as eveidence on the internet seems to contradict. Many Thanks GC

    This didn't make sense to me, and my chem teacher couldn't answer it either. She tried explaining to me for almost 15 minutes and still coulnd't come up with a solid and clear answer. The funny thing is that it was HER OWN problem: Calculate the molar solubility product for AgSCN in pure water, and then in a .01 molar solution of NaSCN. Could someone please, for the love of Pete, help me solve this? Yes, I am trying to get my chem teacher fired on account of her laziness, lack of chemistry knowledge, and her overall incompetence as an AP Chemistry teacher.

    Calculate the pH of the solution which results from the mixing of 100.0 mL of 0.050 NaOH solution with an equal volume of 0.10 M HCl solution. Seems straight forward to me. Strong acid and a strong base, so they'll react completely. You end up with .05M HCl, which is the molarity of H+, so you can just use -log(.05) to get the pH. I get 1.3. But this is apparently incorrect, the answer given is 1.6. Can someone tell me where I went wrong?

    We know that a simple reducing sugar can be divided into 2 groups: The aldose and the ketose A ketose contains 1 group of Ketone group . However , ketone is resistant to oxidation in the organic chemistry context. But ketose is a reducing sugar !!!! Can anyone give an idea to this question

    hmmm.... my chem gave us this test with the following question: will Cl2O give an acidic, basic, or neutral solution when dissolved in water? Write a reaction to justify your answer. I'm guessing it will make an acidic solution because it would make HCLO, right? What's the equation for this reaction? I'm guessing Cl2O + H2O <--> 2HClO, but is this right?
