Hello, Im not sure how to set up this integral. Its a little more advanced than I am used too. Any ideas? Consider a thin ring of radius a and mass M. A mass m is placed in the plane of the ring (not in the center!). Determine the gravitational potential for r < a. Find a position of equilibrium and determine whether it is stable or unstable. (Hint: Consider a small displacement from the equilibrium position and do an expansion.)

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. If you have an addition equation with a molecule containing a C=C bond and the COOH group is the C=C broken or is the COOH group removed? e.g ...C=C...COOH + Br2 is the C=C bond broken and the Br2's added or does one Br stick to the end of the chain removing the COOH and producing CO2 + HBr

I had a lab in Chemistry class today and I'm supposed to answer a few questions. The lab was creating NaHCO3. The question I'm stuck on is... "To make sure that the white powder was all sodium chloride and not mixed with sodium hydrogen carbonate, would you need to add a little less or a little more hydrochloric acid to the reaction? Explain your dedision." Any quick help on this would be much appreciated.

Tn = 3/4n^2 -9 what is the common difference of said series/sequence the answer is 3/2 and i dont know how it is. i thought common different was just what each term differs by so i replaced n with numbers to get t1=-8.25 t2= -6 t3= -2.25 and i dont see anything common. guidance?

This is one that i causing me some serious greif. I wrote it on the board in class, thinking it was simple. Unfortunately I didn't look at the last part of the question. Now i'm stumped and my students are feeling crappy because if their teacher can't do it then how are they supposed to? here goes: Pure DTBP at 147°C and 975 mmHg decomposes to acetone and ethane in a reaction flask at constant volume and constant temperature. the rate constant is [math]8.66 * 10^-3 min^-1[/math]. [ce] C8H18O2(g) -> 2C3H6O(g) + C2H6(g) [/ce] a) calculate the hlaf-life of the reaction. I've done this using t½ = ln2/k, which gives 80.04 min b) calculate the pressure …

Hopefully a quick question for a bio chem newbie. Which amino acid residues in a protein can engage in hydrogen bonding? Is the question Don't all amino acid residues still have a c=o in them, and therefore all should be able to hydrogen bond? Or is there an amino acid with some brand of weirdness I don't understand?

I wrote the following program 01.cpp: //My first program #include <iostream> int main() { std: :cout << "Welcome to C++! \n"; return 0; } The file iostream.h is under C:\Borland\bcc55\Include\iostream.h, while the program is saved under C:\Borland\bcc55. I thought an .exe file was created after doing the following in Command Prompt on Windows. See Picture. cpp32.exe is under C:\Borland\bcc55\Bin\. I included C:\Borland\bcc55\Bin\cpp32.exe under Path in the Environment Variables under Advnaced section of COntrol Panel, so I can call it out anytime. But my exe file is not created. Instead I get an .I file, and I don't know…

1. you know methanol is CH3OH, which turns out to be tetrahedral in shape, correct? but it doesn't necessarily look like its exclusively tetrahedral, so can you have more than one shape in a bond? 2. BBr3 and NI3 are different in shape because of what? - would saying that since the central atom has no free electrons in the NI3 bond but there are in the BBr3 bond, making it so the extra, free electrons push the bonded electrons away for more moving space be an adequate response?

My teacher is pretty strict about details, and I'm working on an assignment about writing/balancing chemical reactions. The question is: He never really mentioned how to write the heat part in the equation, so I kind of just winged it. This is what I got: Ca2(CO3)2 + heat → 2CaO + 2CO2 Have I written that correctly? (Sorry, the subscript letters didn't carry over properly from MS Word.) EDIT: Also, how would you write decomposition? For example: How would I write "decomposes"?

We have a circuit. The potential voltage of the circuit is 2.2v (with 4 lemons) and our clock should run on approx 1.2v. When we measure the IR drop across the clock, we get a 0.5v drop. We have tried several clocks, both analog and digital, and cannot make this work. What could be wrong (in addition to the short circuit performing the experiment)? We are at a total loss now, having attempted every variation of correction we can conceive with our limited knowledge of the issue... please help. This is a major part of the grade for this 9th grade class.

I'm pretty sure that the equation for hydrochloric acid reacting with potassium hydroxide is HCl(aq)+KOH(s)-->KCl(aq)+H2O(l) but im unsure about what the ionic equation is, I was hovering around H+(aq)+KOH(s)-->K+(aq)+H2O(l) I'm open to any suggestions/corrections Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergeddon't worry about it, just realized i have my states wrong, KOH is aqueous not solid so the net ionic equation would be H+(aq)+OH-(aq)-->H2O(l)

I have to do an assignment that deals with stoichiometry. I know it's basically just converting from one thing to another, but a problem baffles me. I have to change from grams to molecules, and I can't remember what kind of conversion that is. The problem says this: Using the equation provided: 2 NO + O2 -> 2 NO2 How many molecules of NO will react with 27.7 g O2? I know how to set up the problem, but I don't know what conversion factor to use to change from grams to molecules, or even to moles if that's possible. Any tips would be greatly appreciated

I have to decide whether the equation is: Synthesis Single Displacement Double Displacement Decomposition Combustion I know what to do for most of them, but one question baffles me. I already filled in the products and balanced the equation (hopefully correctly), and just need to know what type of reaction this is. 2 HCl + CaCO3 -> CO2 + H2O + CaCl2 I know it isn't synthesis or combustion, and single displacement doesn't sound right. I think it may be double displacement, but decomposition (though there are two reactants) sounds like the most probable answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hey everybody, I hope you are well. I am currently a student at the University of the West of Scotland studying Computer Science. I am currently doing my coursework and I am stuck on a question. I will post the question, could someone please explain how I would get the answer? I get the general gist of the question but I'm quite unsure about it. Thanks Question Op Code - 8 bits. Address Mode - 4 bits. Register Address - 4 bits. Operand Specification - 16 bits. ADD V, 0, 30AC with Register 0 containing 12A4 Describe clearly the effect of each of these instructions when executed.

how many whole integral solutions does the equation [math] x_1 +x_2 + ...... x_n = c [/math] have if [math] 0 < x_1 < k_1 , 0 < x_2 < k_2 .......0 < x_n < k_n [/math] and c and k are constants. This problem is analogous to the to this if a number of people have each some amount of money(may or may not be the same amount) , in how many ways can they pay a bill. I cannot understand how to do this question please help.
