I have about 100 problems with a lot of factoring. (Difference of squares, sum of cubes, difference of cubes, etc.) But I need help on a few. First is x^3+3x^2+3x+1. What kind of problem is this...? I did some steps that I thought appropriate and ended up with... (3x+(x^2-x+1))+(x+1) If anyone can double check this that'd be great

Science forums is amazing, but I've noticed that there are a few websites out there that give you homework help answers to various subjects. Can anyone tell me what websites I can trust (since you've got to pay for them I'm hesitant to even surf them). It'd be really nice to have all of the answers to my homework so that when I'm stuck I can get unstuck by going online. Then if I want to discuss a problem with the community, I can do that here

I got this wrong in a test. Now I'm sitting and puzzling. The initial fraction is what the answer key said, the last, mine. What did I do wrong in: 2x/(1+4x) = (2x/x)/(1/x+4x/x) = 2/(1/x+4) = 2(x/1)+2(1/4) = 2x+1/2 When I substitute 10 for x, the answers are different. If there is a link or source, it would be very helpful too. Thanks!

Hi, I've just started studying molecular biology this semester and I'm a little stumped on a homework problem - would really appreciate some insight. I have a hypothetical hexapeptide with N-terminal Glutamine and C-terminal Arginine. The question is "If the N-terminal was acetylated how would this affect pI?" I know acetylation is the addition of an acetyl group (C2H3O), and that glutamine is a polar amino acid -- however it's uncharged at pH 7 and I can't see how the addition of an acetyl group would affect the charge of the molecule or the pI in anyway. We haven't covered acetylation in any of our lectures, so I'm really not sure about this at all. …

OK, so I have my science fair idea but I don't know how to test it. I am trying to test whether or not temperature of water changes How much CO2 will dissolve into it, and also whether or not adding substances to the water affects the same thing. However, the most scientific method of testing I can find is heating up some cola and sticking your tongue in it. Does anybody know a way I can find out how much CO2 will dissolve int water, with an actual answer in mg/l or g/l, using NON-SPECIALIST equipment? Thanks XenonPirate P.S. here is my aim ,if anyone can think of a way to actually test this and tell me ASAP it would me much appreciated. Aim …

Hi! I am currently working on a research assignment about lithium. I am trying to find out how it is extracted from the earth. Here is what i know so far: In chilli, the largest producer of lithium in the world, lithium is extracted from brine (water which contains lithium salt) of the Salar De Atacma, the largest salt flat in chilli. The brine is pumped into large solar evaporation ponds. Over a 18-24 month period the brine is evaporated until there is a sufficient concentration of lithium salts. This lithium salt is then transported via truck or pipeline to processing plants where it is converted to usable salt products such as Lithium Carbonate. What i don…

1. A peptide (compound A) was hydrolysed and found to contain equimolar quantities of arg, val, tyr, glu, lys, ala and gly. (a) Exhaustive treatment of compound A with trypsin yields the following compounds: arg, ala-lys and a peptide (compound B) containing glu, gly, tyr and val. Treatment of compound B with chymotrypsin yields val-tyr and glu-gly. (b) Short-term treatment of compound A with carboxypeptidase yields free glycine as the first detectable amino acid. © N-terminal analysis of compound A with FDNB yields DNP-alanine in the ether phase extracted from the acid hydrolysate. What is the sequence of the peptide? Given this info, the N-terminal AA is…

Hey guys, So I did a practical about the effect of carbon dioxide concentration on photosynthesis, and we removed the gas from leaves so that they sunk in water. We then placed the leaf samples in solutions with varying sodium hydrogen carbonate concentrations, with light source coming from beneath from an overhead projector and measured the time it took for the leaves to rise to the surface of the solution. So there was an uneven distribution of light across the overhead projector. Would this be a random error or systematic error? And why? Thanks a lot. <3
