Hey guys I have this question i've been trying to solve for too long: Let A be an nxn matrix, rankA=1 , and n>1 . Prove that A is either nilpotent or diagonalizable. I have no clue how to even get started with that... though i attempted too much... Anyone can help? Thanks a lot

  3. Hello everybody. I have a big problem (it is not a homework but an important exercice) which i can't solve and i have no solution ... A circularly polarized monochromatic wave is reflected from a dielectric mirror which has parameters μ and ε. Its wave vector is k = (k0, 2k0,0). Find the magnetic field B, the electric field E and the Poynting vector S as well as the angle of incidence for which the reflected wave is linearly polarized (i.e. the Brewster angle). Calculate the energy of the system. I think we have to use this (very) general equations : B = B0.sin(ωt + δ) rot E = - ∂B/∂t E = -ωB0.cos (ωt + δ) where : ω=k.c = 2∏c/λ For the circular pol…

Hi, I know I have asked a few graph questions before but got another one that I am stuck on now The concentration of a stock standard is 4mmol/L (Creatinine). This stock standard is diluted in water to give a set of working standards which are 0 mmol/L and 0.00ml, 0.1mmol/L and 0.125ml, 0.2 mmol/L and 0.25 ml, 0.5 mmol/L and 0.625, 0.8mmol/L and 1ml, 1.0mmol/L and 1.25 ml, and 2.0mmol/L with 2.5ml vol. (The mmol/L are concentrations and the ml are volumes of the standards) The question says I have to plot this data as a calibration curve. I dont know which set of numbers i am supposed to plot and which is the X and Y axis. Then I am supposed to determine …

Hey eveyone, until now I can't figured out what is "unit vector" in term of this formula: [math] \hat{r} = \frac{\vec{AB}}{||\vec{AB}||} [/math] especially when referring to the graph, unlike one of the components that it used [math] ||\vec{AB}|| [/math], which referring to the "magnitude/length of a vector". another question, 10. Given that [math] \vec{OA} = \lambda i[/math] and [math] \vec{OB} = 2i + 3j [/math] and [math] \vec{OC} = 3i - 4j[/math]. Find the value of [math] \lambda [/math] if A, B and C are collinear. (note that i and j are the cartesian coordinates unit vector) per said that "A, B and C are collinear", I plot it like this,…

    1. An electric space heater draws 15.0 A from a 120 V source. It is operated, on average, for 5.0h (hours) each day. a) How much power does the heater use and b) At $.10 per kWh, what does it cost to operate the heater for 30 days? 2. Suppose each person in the United States uses 12,000 kWh of electricity a year and the power plants using coal to generate electricity are 40% efficient. If 1.0 kg of burned coal releases 33.0 mJ a) how much coal will be burned during a year for a family of four b) how large a pile of coal would that be (using 2620 kg/ m^3) c) how much heat is given off to the environment 3. For a science project after my AP chemistry test we are supposed to design a calorimeter (not bomb). For fuel we are burning a cheese puff and you can design the calorimeter however you want. I attached a crude blueprint of what we've come up with. So design is that the cheese puff is in a container with a low heat capacity such as aluminum which will dissipate the heat from the flame to the water. The co2 from the flame will rise through the copper tubing (there will be two more on the sides not seen in the 2d drawing) so some of the heat will dissipate from the co2 to the water while keeping the co2 from smothering the flame. The copper tubing will be sealed with most l…

Whenever I study the atomic structures of Atoms, one thing make me very doubtful... We all know that same charges repel each other & opposite charges attract each other. I am in an Automata, Complexity, and Compatability class, and I was given a confusing assignment question. It is question 3, the one that starts on the bottom of page 1 and runs to page 2, on the pdf document attached. I have asked others for help, but they claim that there is a typo on question 3. They claim that where it says A≅C and B≅C , the B≅C should have been B ≅ D . However, when I contacted my teacher about it, he claims that is not a typo and he meant to write that. Because of it, they claim that the statement cannot be proven. I was just wondering if anyone here could help me get started with it, if it can be proven

I need to draw a ray diagram for a galilean telescope with one diverging and one converging lens. The converging (convex) is the objective lens, and the diverging (concave) is the eyepiece. How would I diagram this, because whenever I try I get a smaller inverted image, but when I test it I get an enlarged upright image. Images would be great!

  14. Hey guys, Im really struggling getting my head around the math involved in these types of questions, can anyone work through it with me? Thanks, N The question I've been set is: With what frequency would the phenotype a b C appear in the descendancy when the following cross is carried out in D.melanogaster? Females a B c/A b C x Males A B c/a b C, taking into account that the recombination frequency between A and B is 0.20, between B and C is 0.15, and the coefficient of coincidence is 0.25.

Any help with this question? At time t = 0, a football player kicks a ball from the point A with position vector (2i + j) m on a horizontal football field. The motion of the ball is modelled as that of a particle moving horizontally with constant velocity (5i + 8j) m s–1. Find (a) the speed of the ball, (b) the position vector of the ball after t seconds. The point B on the field has position vector (10i + 7j) m. © Find the time when the ball is due north of B. At time t = 0, another player starts running due north from B and moves with constant speed v m s–1. Given that he intercepts the ball, d) find the value of v. I worked out pa…

i am researching whether the xbox 360's kinect will be beneficial in education. In particular the physics discipline. I need some help in answering a few simple questions to see your opinions on whether it would be effective... Background Information: One of the most important attributes that adds value to the Kinect is the quality (functionality) of the product that differs from competitors. Through 3D depth sensors and RGB camera, the product enables customers to play controller-free and transform the body to be the controller. These highly developed sensors help identify and track the user’s body motion inside the play area. (Xbox support) Further, Kinect sen…

Ok, so I attend a prestigous magnet school for science, math, and applied technology. As rising juniors and seniors, each student is required to research a specific "thing" (i.e. treatment, new nanofiber, etc.) under any scientific category. The project must be able to require at least 2 years of research and must be a new research topic, never before tested. I have NO IDEA what topic i should do, but i wanted something related to electrospun nanofibers. Anyone have a suggestion?

Null Hypothesis : Same concentrations of substance X & Y will have the same effect on substance Z A experiment was carried out to determine whether the same concentration of X and Y will have the same effect on substance Z. Hence 3different concentration of X & Y was made and mixed with substance Z in a different test tubes. Data was collected for each different concentration of X and Y and its mixing with substance Z. It was found, from the Mann-Whitney U test, that the two weakest concentration of X and Y did not have a significantly different effect on Z but the stronge…
