I downloaded a screen saver from the sin city website (http://video.movies.go.com/sincity/), it installs a .src file which is runs a flash animation of a background of rain with images fading up ontop of it. I am interested in extracting the background of this file. I have tried reshack without luck and anything else I try is useless, is there a program to help me do this?

I was just wondering if you guys are using Firefox 1.5, and what you think of it so far. I've heard it's buggy so I've been a little hesitant to upgrade from 1.4 that I'm using now. Is it worth it or should I hold out a bit and wait for some patches?

I am in need of what I think would be a very easy app to make in say, visual basic. I need a .exe file that will open 'index.htm' from the same directory as it in full screen (no buttons/scroll bars etc). I would really apprciate it, I have tried but I don't have any idea what to do.

Ever postpone updating a driver or patching the OS because you may have to reboot and you're busy doing other things right now? Microsoft is adding something to Windows Vista called "Restart Manager". It runs in the background and monitors system components. When a new driver or update is added and the installer calls for a restart, the Restart Manager is queried to see if that portion of the operating system is "in the clear". If it is, then just that component is restarted without restarting the entire computer. If the component is busy, RM can optionally take a snapshot of the system and reboot it back to its current state (like going into sleep mode and c…

i usually listen to music while playing video games on my computer. recently doing both at the same time sometimes results in a lot of static in the music. if i shut down both winamp and warcraft 3 and start them back up again the problem goes away. normally i would think its a lack of resources, like im just pushing my computer too hard, but it only started recently and ive been doing this for a long time. also, my computer is a p4 2.8 ghz, something like 800mhz fsb, 1g 2700 ram, plenty of harddrive space, really good graphics card, and a decent sound card. so it should be more than capable of doing a game like WC3, and a media player at the same time. the only t…

Hi I have found this php program especially interesting for academic purpose. This program is called pHpOCR. Its function is Optical Character Recognition. Website: http://phpocr.sourceforge.net/ Here you can know what I refer imidiately. You can view the screenshot: http://phpocr.sourceforge.net/screen1.jpg It is composed of 2 main php files: 1. index.php actual code: http://supershare.trap17.net/index.txt it can generate template for a new font type. It recognises the input image and parse the corresponding number to the output. 2, char_inc_6.php actual code: http://supershare.trap17.net/char_inc_6.txt it is basically the te…

Just curious if anybody's working in this area. These are approaches to web applications that do not involve Java or .NET development environments. Instead the environment uses Javascript and XML exclusively. Google Maps is said to be a good example of this in action. The Wikipedia article on AJAX is pretty good (can be found here), and it talks about some of the recent criticism including the intensive development and testing requirements (which seems to run contrary to some of the claims). I've looked briefly at Ruby on Rails in the past and it looked like an interesting system, but I haven't done anything with it yet. Mostly these days I find myself playing ar…

Hi, my software teacher couldn't really help me here as I am way ahead of the course so I thought I would ask you guys. I am wanting to code a 3D environment but am unsure what language to use.I don't want to be using openGL or anything as I want to write the basics myself. So here is my question, what language would be most appropriate? I have very good knowledge of JavaScript so something that is similar syntactically would be ideal. C++ seems too much effort to make use of graphics so I thought Java might be alright but I thought I would seek professional advice first, any thoughts?

Are there any good mp3 modifying programs out there? I'm looking for something that will, at the very least, split mp3s into smaller partitions - that is, take one mp3 file and make 2 out of it, one that consists of the first half of the original, and one that consists of the second. Something similar to "Sound Recorder", a simple wave file manipulator that comes standard with most Windows OS's. I would convert the mp3's to waves and play with those in Sound Recorder, but the particular mp3 I'm dealing with won't convert in any converter program I download. I don't know why. It plays fine and all. Can anyone help me?

Hi everyone! I'm making a chemistry website and to save databse space (A lot when you have lots of things too add) I decided to make a pattern match replacer for some of the information, specifically the electron configurations. If you don't know what the electron configuration format is then here it is. nTe Where n = any 1-2 digit number, T is either s,p,d or f. If T = s then e can be any positive number number less than 2. If T = p then e can be any positive number number less than 6. If T = d then e can be any positive number number less than 10. If T = f then e can be any positive number number less than 14 I have eneted the informatio…

hi.. I'm looking to code a program in C that does this: solve for numbers of m such that the net result is the greatest [math]-(m^2+11m-30.75)/(2(2m+1))[/math] 2 modes, m as integers m as all real numbers the method doesn't matter, i'm thinking along iterative methods though This isn't a homework problem just to clarify. But a own personal investigation to help find a solution to a physics problem.
