This is a major problem for fractal based models. "Despite the beautiful physics emerging from the HL picture, inspired by critical and condensed-matter systems, it potentially suffers from at least one major problem. Lorentz invariance, one of the best constrained symmetries of Nature, is surrendered at fundamental level." here is a review of HL gravity.
