Main infrared atmospheric window is between 8 - 14 um . So that's the region of spectrum where the atmosphere is transparent.That's why our Earth cools down a little bit. Does it mean that the major band of emissivity of most of earth's matter is in the region of the window ( 8-14 um )

"Band of emissivity"? (emissivity is a property of materials, telling you how much they act like a blackbody)

 

The emission window matches up with the blackbody profile of something near 300K.

In fairness,an object's emissivity is wavelength dependent.

It has to be because some things are coloured.
