Theoretical Car Built Of Photons

Featured Replies

Suppose we could build a car of photons , according to Einstein photons have no mass , therefore that car would be able to travel at the speed of light because it's practically built of light itself. But is it possible to build such a car and if it's how would one go about building it?

No, it's not possible.

Even if you could the driver would have to be made of photons too, otherwise his mass will constrain the maximum speed.

I think what the OP is trying to say suggest if a car made of photons could exert a force on a person in the car, shouldn't it carry them at the speed of light? I don't know, because photons don't exert an electromagnetic force capable of pushing anything. A car made of photons would just pass through someone as far as I'm concerned.

Look up radiation pressure.

My research over the years has depended on the ability for photons to exert a force on atoms.

Have a gander about the Pioneer Anomaly.
