The angle is because the roof is angled, and also because the collector may not be directly over where the diffuser is to be placed. You want the collector to get as much sunlight as it can, so usually that means having it parallel to the ground (though that will depend on the house's orientation) The diffuser also should be parallel, to disperse the light evenly.

In a commercial document, I'd put a picture where the duct has bends, just to show it's possible.
