why did patterson stop making them? im assuming he is still alive.

i recall that there were artistic differences between him and his publishers.

i think they wanted to put more restictions on the stip than he was willing to deal with. not in terms of content so much as things like layout and liscening. waterson did not like to sell calvin's image.
