bloodhound
bought norton? i doubt it. piracy was on a record high when i last went to kathmandu. most likely it was a pirated copy with a pirated key, and norton has long blacklisted the key. Norton was good a while back ago, but with each release it just takes over ur computer more and more. Altough i got nothing againts norton. There are better antivirus solutions as well as being free. Download the avast home edition which is free. it has a very good track record.
badchad
It's a personal preference (and I get it free from my school), but I use Norton Antivirus Corporate edition. Works wonderfully in my opinion.
Gilded
Dammit people. Use F-Secure instead. Or then don't, because it sucks. But if you buy it, it's good for Finland's economy. )
bloodhound
i ve heard some good things about f secure. but i right now am going russky with kaspersky
Jordan14
Going back to free Anti-viruses I use AntiVir and it has detected every virus I have had which is quite alot I vote for AntiVir it's well worth it. I didn't really like aVasts interface and thought it was a bit buggy, also I like AVG but it had quite low virus definition file.

You do know you can call Symantec directly and activate the product. Also you said you purchased it on cd-rom. Isn't it already activated since if I remember right it reads the activation data from a encrypted file on the disk.
5614
well consider he said that it was the key that was dodgy and then he "tried other sites" i'd say it was an illegal version and is not working because norton have blocked the code... either that or he just doing something obviously wrong like the wrong code in the wrong box or something! im using NIS (norton internet security) 2005... it includes a firewall and AV. the firewall is very good the AV is ok-ish so i also have avast for scans and stuff because sadly i cant uninstal norton AV without uninstalling the firewall - whilst i could disable it why not have one running and one with good scans? bloodhound
like i said. He's located in Kathmandu, Nepal. where piracy is at all time high so even ig he DID buy it. its highly likely that he bought a pirated copy... with a blacklisted key. bloodhound
highly unlikely , unless you contact norton, and suscribe.
5614
can't i get any activation key .i mean the original one? yeah, you have to get it legally... ie. you have to pay for it!
Leison
yeah, you have to get it legally... ie. you have to pay for it! then tell me what's the use of those sites offering free numbers if everyone goes legally then those sites will be of no use
5614
those sites which gives you ones for free are illegal it is against the law! the point of that is to be illegal because they are cheap people who dont mind breaking the law! there will always be those who would rather break the law and save a tiny bit of cash each year... but if you think what your computer is worth to you and how much you wanna keep it safe it is worth paying the little money per year!!! although you could always get a different free one. bloodhound
its not like norton doesnt know about sites themself. its highly possible that they have a seperate section dedicated just for scouring those sites and blacklisting all the keys available freely on the net. bloodhound
most keygens work like that. basically, according to the serial no. u put it, i will give you a phone key, which u must phone norton and tell it to them so that they can give u an activation key.... but instead of doing that, u just plug the phone thingy in the keygen and it will give u an activation key. afraid i can't really tell you anything more than that. slickinfinit
yeah, you have to get it legally... ie. you have to pay for it! lol I have all my software pirated n I think alot of people who have good ftp setup can get any piece of software for free. I have never paid for software and hope to never have to. I got norton 2005 free off suprnova.org with a cd key n all and I also use ad-aware everyday because they are worse than viruses.
