Humans and chimps are very closely related genetically, closer than a donkey and a horse which can hybridize, could a human and a bonobo, bonobos are said to be closer to us genetically than regular chimps, be hybridized? there have been many claims that this has already been done but as far as i know they are all false or have no evidence to back those claims up. So is there any reason why it would not work? The technology to do this does exist but would it work and if not why not?

Hybridization can be used in different contexts, but if you mean fusing human and bonobo gametes I would expect that no on has done it so far, for ethical reasons. Whether it would theoretically work I cannot predict with any level of accuracy.

Ethically it is a mine field for sure, such a being could as in the case of horses and donkeys result in a being superior to both mother and father...

Do bonobos have a fused chromosome 2? If such a union did produce viable offspring, they most probably would be sterile offspring.
