so i have no idea what a "UV/Vis spectrophotometer" is and i need to know what it does and how it works can any one help me?

UV-vis spectrometers are useful for quantitative determination of chemical species present in solution. It works best for metal complexes, and highly conjugated organics (chemicals with lots non-cumulated pi bonds). I use one quite frequently myself. They can also be used to help a chemist identify which molecular electronic transitions are allowed, and to assign term symbols to these transitions.

I'm intrigued.

How come you need to know what UV Vis spectrophotometer is?

Most people get through life without having heard of one.

Most people search Google about equipment before coming to a discussion site. My guess is that a sockpuppet will join to send us a link.
