For Linux, Bluefish is pretty nice.

 

For Windows avoid Coffee Cup like the plague. I use DWMX so I have no idea which free ones are good, but I heard good things about Arachnid. Or Spider. Well it was named after something with lots of legs.

Ya, I have never seen the need for an html etitor. I just use notpad or netscape composer.

Notepad. I really never saw the point to any other editor for any type of programming.

I have to say that when I'm writing larger projects, syntax highlighting is a nice feature to be able to have. However, most of the time I'm working in a Linux shell so it's a big hard to get.
