considering adding more forums, and removing some.

 

Heres what I was considering adding:

 

• Earth sciences (geology, meteorology)
  
• Human Sciences (anthro, archaeology, psych, misc human studies, all in one or two forums...not a bunch of little specific ones)
  
• maybe an ethics section of some sort, science & ethics or something
  
• maybe philosophy (don't want to stray far from the topics, but an idea nonetheless)
  

 

Considering removing:

• Biomedical Engineering
  
• Industrial Engineering
  
• Music Engineering
  
• Civil Engineering
  

 

I was considering merging some of the forums, but there is no way to do that without losing data in the forums..so for now that will have to wait.

 

Suggestions? Anything you guys want to add/remove...

I'm more into the practical sciences.....so it sounds good to me as is.....

couldn't we just shift some of the threads into different forums, and then remove the old forum and rename the remaining one? that might work. If you want, I'll shuffle physics round into something a bit more consice.

don't do it by hand...just let me know which you want moved...I can do a mass move thing, so you don't have to go through each individually.

We already have a psych forum. And an ethics forum. Psych has even been there since the beginning, and I added ethics about a month and a half ago.

and since physics is the primary focus of this site, i think we should leave the subdivisions as they are for now.

change it to include all areas of science. there are ethical areas in other areas than just biology.

 

Psychology would be better classified under human science, since its not classified as a medical science.

 

Astronomy/cosmology should be merged.

Astronomy and cosmology are two entirely different things. If anything (and I'd prefer not merging it), it would go with modern physics. Aren't all medical sciences really human sciences? Well, except veterinary sciences... and xenobiology...

I just merged pseudoscience and metaphysics.. same difference.

Makes sense.

 

On the subject of forums, is the "Poll Forum" actually supposed to be Admins Only, or is it merely labelled thusly?

Only admins can post polls there, anyone can view them... they're just the polls that show on the main page.
