YT2095
News just in, the NASA mars Rover "Spirit" is unable to send usefull data OR receive commands, it`s suspected a memory or a software error may have occured I`ve got no more info as yet Edit: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3421071.stm thanx to sayonara for the link
Cheetah
Better hope NASA has a good IT service agreement with guaranteed service on the spot. It is realy bad if we manage to loose spirit for a software bug!

fafalone
well at least our probe MADE IT to mars, which is more than the europeans can claim
Cap'n Refsmmat
Or many other people... Most either go SPLATT! or whoops! Missed! Once NASA even confused metric with US, that made for a big problem.
Sayonara
Beagle 2 is on Mars.

That includes American probes.
Radical Edward
I think it is a real shame if this probe breaks down. Personally I'd like to see all missions succeed, think of the amazing amount of science that would get done. That is where all the fun stuff is. It'd be nice to know what happened to Beagle 2 though. mossoi
There's another one landing in 3 days so it's not too tragic a loss if it doesn't come back.
Radical Edward
apparently it just spurted at spain. information, that is. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/3423717.stm

Unlike NASA's Mars Polar Whatsit, which sort of burnt up because of incompetence. As Radical Edward said, it would have been better to have ALL of them suceed. It's pointless having country vs country on science, as Oxbridge would win (hoho).
Radical Edward
Imperial College.... because we had that cluster mission, before the french blew it up.
Guest RoNoNFT
I believe they're going to re-air the newsconference from 7-8p.m. (i think that's pacific time, but I'm not sure) and for those that don't have access to it, you can stream live NASA-TV here: http://nasa-tv.yi.org
