How would I bulid a device around a door to destroy magnetically stored data?

Sounds good to me... having a nice gas fire there would also work, not very good for humans though.... Where as a relatively high B filed (a few Teslas) will have a very small effect on humans...

You're screwed if he's wearing any form of jewellery though

or has some form of surgical plate or pin inside :\

Ok for a electromagnet around a 80 inch by 36 inch door (203.2 cm by 91.44 cm) How much copper wire would I need to get to make the strongest magnetic field possible?

I have seen this done before. It was purely experimental and temporary, but it worked. All data on disks was destroyed.

I could just imagen what a few telstars mite do to earings or fillings.
